“And all the world wondered after the beast.” Revelation 13:3.
On April 30, 2025, Vatican News published a report in which Archbishop Gabriele Caccia, the Holy See‘s Permanent Observer to the United Nations, expressed that Pope Francis was widely recognized as the Pope for all people, faiths, languages, and cultures—because he was beloved by the entire world. He stated that the global outpouring of affection and unity during the time of his passing reflected his identity as the “people’s Pope.” Archbishop Gabriele Caccia also expressed that multitudes from every corner of the earth descended upon St. Peter’s Square to pay “homage” as the world stood in solidarity with Rome. This powerful moment, he claimed, demonstrated how Pope Francis had embraced all the world, and in return, the world embraced him.
The Vatican published the following:
• “Throughout the world, following the death of Pope Francis, at all United Nations offices, the flag was flown at half-mast in a sign of respect and solidarity.” [1]
• “All the member states were represented with a unanimous expression of condolences.” [1]
• “They paid homage to this great figure of Pope Francis, so beloved because he was, as they said in many interventions, the people’s Pope, close to every person.” [1]
• “A Father for all … They have lost somebody who, for sure, belongs to the Catholic community, to the Holy See, but in a sense was a father, a familiar figure for all people of all faiths, of all languages, of all cultures.” [1]
• “Archbishop Caccia also noted that the late Pope’s appeal for unity and fraternity, as expressed in the encyclical Fratelli Tutti was realized in a way, in this particular moment, in which we felt very much united at the United Nations: There was a big consensus about the words and the deeds of Pope Francis.” [1]
• “Just as we have seen at the funeral in Rome – all the world was there and all the world was embraced by the Bernini colonnade [another name for St. Peter’s Square, named after its architect Lorenzo Bernini], but it also was embraced by the Catholic Church, and for sure it was embraced by Pope Francis himself from up in heaven.” [1]
Revelation 13:3 states, “And all the world wondered after the beast,” a prophetic passage interpreted as a warning against the global admiration and allegiance to the beast power. This passage finds a striking parallel in the unprecedented global reaction to the death of Pope Francis, when representatives from every religion, political background, culture, and language gathered in St. Peter’s Square to pay homage. Our divided world united in admiration for a single figure—the man of sin (2 Thessalonians 2:3, 4)—in a demonstration that will lead to the loss of souls.
“And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone.” Revelation 19:20.
Revelation warns that the world will come together to worship the beast and receive his mark. This is the crisis of faith that will exist in the last days as people abandon the faith in search of false hopes. The entire world will embrace the counterfeit gospel along with the counterfeit Sabbath. This will be the universal condition existing in the world at the time when Christ returns. This is not just a loss of interest or passive drifting away, but a deliberate departure influenced by deceptive spiritual forces and false teachers.
As the world sinks deeper into disobedience, confusion, and spiritual error, God calls His faithful people to stand boldly and raise the banner of truth high before the world. Our mission is urgent—to proclaim the everlasting gospel and the warnings found in Revelation 14:6-12. Though many will follow the broad path of compromise and convenience, some hearts will be stirred by the truth, turning away from the darkness to embrace God’s light.
