The Pontifical Mission Societies organization is the official missionary arm of the Catholic Church and is tasked with the work of evangelizing the world by spreading the Catholic faith. By actively engaging in evangelization efforts, the Vatican seeks to bring the world into communion with the universal church by teaching people about Catholic sacraments and traditions, which include Sunday-keeping. Rome is particularly aggressive in seeking to bring as many people as possible into the fold of the Catholic faith through its World Mission Sunday 2024 project.
The following was published by the Pontifical Mission Societies, which explains what World Mission Sunday 2024 is:
• “Go and Invite Everyone to the Banquet.” [1]
• “Are you ready to be a part of World Mission Sunday 2024?” [1]
• “Always celebrated on the second to last Sunday of October, this year it will be marked on October 20th. World Mission Sunday is a special day that unites Catholics worldwide in prayer, solidarity, and support for the Church’s mission efforts.” [1]
• “This year’s theme, chosen by Pope Francis, is rooted in the Gospel of Matthew: ‘Go and Invite Everyone to the Banquet,’ reflecting the inclusive and urgent call to bring God’s love to everyone. Join us in this universal mission to spread the Gospel and invite all to experience the joy of Christ’s message!” [1]
• “The Host of the Banquet: Pope Francis!” [1]
• “Become a Volunteer for the Banquet this World Mission Sunday 2024” [1]
• “Are you ready to make a difference? Sign up to be a volunteer for World Mission Sunday and help spread the message of God’s love.” [1]
• ” If you are a priest, a deacon, a staff member at a parish, or a very active lay member of the community, you might find these assets to be useful. Please download and share them accordingly to ensure that every church in the United States, no matter how small or big, prays for the missions throughout the month of October!” [1]
• “Suggested homilies for each Sunday of October.” [1]
• “Parish announcement for each Sunday of October.” [1]
• “Bulletin announcements for each Sunday of October.” [1]
• “Prayer of the Faithful for each Sunday of October.” [1]
Bible prophecy describes in the book of Revelation 17 a powerful city that would exert significant political power over the people of the earth. These predictions can only be applied to one actor in modern history. The city of seven hills (Revelation 17:9) is none other than Rome. God’s prophetic word reveals what this woman or “church” will do in the days to come:
“For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies.” Revelation 18:3.
The Vatican is using its vast network of organizations and church members to advance the universal mission of the church. The Catholic Church is actively mobilizing its evangelism through a variety of initiatives, including parish programs, lay movements, missionary activities, and modern communication channels, to empower its members to spread the Catholic faith through World Mission Sunday 2024 in fulfillment of Revelation 18:3.
The name of this world-wide evangelistic effort is “World Mission Sunday,” and we know from Bible prophecy that “Sunday” is the mark of papal apostasy. This refers to the fact that the Roman Catholic Church’s establishment of Sunday as the day of worship in place of the biblical Sabbath (Saturday) represents a departure from God’s commandments and an assertion of the Church’s authority over Scripture. In other words, the shift from Sabbath observance to Sunday worship was not rooted in any biblical mandate but rather in the church’s desire to distinguish itself from all other churches and assert its presumed power.
Sunday is a sign of apostasy because it symbolizes Rome’s willingness to alter God’s law, which is an act of rebellion against divine authority (see Daniel 7:25). The enforcement of Sunday observance is the imposition of human tradition over God’s commandments, and this day will become the mark of the beast when imposed by law. When Sunday worship is mandated by law, this will represent a final test of allegiance—whether individuals choose to obey God’s commandments by keeping the Sabbath or follow human tradition by observing Sunday.
“When Sunday observance shall be enforced by law, and the world shall be enlightened concerning the obligation of the true Sabbath, then whoever shall transgress the command of God, to obey a precept which has no higher authority than that of Rome, will thereby honor popery above God. He is paying homage to Rome, and to the power which enforces the institution ordained by Rome. He is worshiping the beast and his image” (Great Controversy, p. 449).

Adam Gillard says
In John 5, Jesus was accused of breaking the Sabbath. Jesus legal defense was NOT to say that He had merely broken the manmade traditions. His legal defence was to point out that His Father was no longer in His post 6-day rest mode!!! He had gotten back to work on a new creation! According to Exodus 20:11 the 7th day application of the unchangeable Sabbath Commandment binds the old man from the old Adam who is part of the 6 day creation. But for Christians the old man has died, been discarded, and had been replaced with a new creation complete in a new Adam not created during the 6 day creation. So there is an old creation and a new creation. How does the unchangeable Sabbath Commandment apply to a different creation. The reasoning in Exodus 20:11 provides the answer. The creative rest immediately following the given round of creation, is the Sabbath rest that binds that creation. For Christians the new creation was completed early on Resurrection Sunday and Resurrection Sunday is the first day of creative rest following the completion of the new creation. Hence Sunday rest. Now what about the “keeping it holy” aspect? The old man had to rely on the special weekly Sabbath sacrifices (Numbers 28) to patch over their fallen condition. Jesus had given us the substance form of that by meeting corporately with His Church late on Resurrection Sunday and presiding over the Mass (Luke 24).
The Catholics have not changed Gods Law. They merely recognise that a new creation is not part of creation week and do the unchangeable Sabbath Commandment applies differently to a different round of creation.
