In an article published by The Adventist Review on April 22 entitled “Viral Lies”, James D. Standish, who has served in rather prominent positions for the General Conference, argued that Seventh-day Adventists who question the safety and efficacy of the Covid-19 vaccine should be treated as miscreants and opposed. His carefully crafted innuendo suggests that what he calls anti-vax extremists should not be part of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Using pathos and unsupported “scientific” arguments, he strives to convince readers that those in the church who oppose the vaccine are disseminating information that is not “rational, accurate, or true.” He goes on to suggest that what he refers to as lies and the efforts by such individuals to spread them, may cause the death of a loved one:
“And if we choose to believe the lies and spread them, someone we love may very well be the next Adventist to die a horrible, lonely, completely unnecessary death.” [1]
I have to say that Standish’s perspective is not just warped and inappropriate, but reckless and irresponsible, particularly in light of his purported advocacy for religious liberty and freedom. It is bad enough that what he is recommending fundamentally violates First Amendment rights, but it also discounts documented scientific facts for which highly credentialed and respected doctors and scientists have sacrificed their credibility and even their careers to a voracious media that deplatformed them to sustain a flawed narrative. Standish’s use of rhetoric in an effort to shame Seventh-day Adventists into disregarding such scientifically documented realities is so simplistic as to be almost childlike in nature:
“To believe the COVID vaccines are not lifesaving based on a spot of data here, a charismatic speaker there, by grasping at misinterpreted data and connecting unrelated dots into an incoherent theory here, there, and everywhere, is exactly the approach that Adventists walked away from in the spiritual realm, and we need to do the same in the physical realm.” [1]
He goes on to imply that those who stand opposed to the Covid-19 vaccines are on par with radical Islamic extremists:
“And it’s not just Adventist doctors. On February 24, the world learned that eight health workers vaccinating children for polio were assassinated in Afghanistan by Islamic extremists. As I write, however, the anti-vax extremism killing the most people isn’t among traditional healers whose place in society is threatened, nor is it among Islamic extremists in faraway lands. Today the extremism has infected our church, and it is spreading one social media post at a time.” [1]
This grossly misguided effort by Standish feeds directly into the prophetic realities of our times, whereby true Seventh-day Adventists will be persecuted even by their own brothers and sisters (Matthew 24:9–10) and may eventually face threats to life and limb for defending the very principles that founded our church. Perhaps it was intentional. After all, Standish is a law graduate of Georgetown University, a well-known Jesuit institution. His MBA is from the University of Virginia, another institution with a strong Jesuit influence.
It never ceases to amaze me how such individuals wind up in crucial positions within the Conference and are afforded unconditional credibility when we know full well that they have at the very least been influenced by curricula that are rife with Jesuit ideology.

If one follows Standish’s reasoning, it flies in the face of documented scientific data and analysis by some of the world’s leading experts in virology and epidemiology, not to mention VAERS, the government’s own database that provides a clear picture of the known dangers of the Covid-19 vaccine. This is not speculation, conjecture, or guesswork. There are truly serious concerns about the safety and even the purpose of the vaccine, particularly in light of the now far less virulent variants. Nonetheless, Standish would have us believe that this is the stuff of conspiracy theories, despite lucid and well-researched presentations by those whose expertise and credentials far exceed those of Anthony Fauci and his ilk. For instance, people like Robert Malone, whose efforts created the mRNA technology upon which the vaccine is based, and Peter McCullough, who has placed his career at great risk in order to reveal the dangers of the vaccine to a misinformed and unsuspecting populace.
One would think that professionals such as Peter McCullough would have an almost unassailable credibility. He has written numerous peer-reviewed articles in some of the world’s most prestigious medical journals, including The New England Journal of Medicine, Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA), and The Lancet, and has won numerous high-profile awards and garnered worldwide recognition for his contributions to the medical field. However, despite this distinction and McCullough’s well-known consulting efforts with many of the same government agencies promoting the vaccine, the unrelenting spin artists and their pundits are still hard at work trying to discredit him and his colleagues. Apparently, Standish has joined their ranks, but has gone one step further by disparaging his Seventh-day Adventist brothers and sisters – implying that they are equivalent to terrorists and shaming them for not keeping their mouths shut about the inherent dangers of this untested mRNA technology. Even more audacious is Standish’s assertion that vaccination is part of the medical missionary work and that those who are averse to the Covid-19 vaccine are contravening the counsels we have as Seventh-day Adventists. As a medical missionary myself, I find this utterly repulsive. Apparently, Standish’s conception of medical missionary work involves protocols and practices developed or promoted by people such as Anthony Fauci – himself a Jesuit operative, not by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
There is a considerable base of documented scientific data contradicting Standish’s assertions as well as the mainstream vaccine narrative. I have written about this in previous articles. However, few in our church will avail themselves of this information, nor will they do their own research to find the real truth about the Covid-19 conundrum. Of course, people like Standish and those he apparently venerates count on this fact. This is how the mainstream narrative has remained viable and has kept millions in the dark.
Without empirical scientific data to prosecute his assertions, Standish resorts to the same tactic used effectively by the mainstream media and renegade government agencies – the purported death toll. However, the facts speak for themselves. It is difficult to attribute a mortality rate to Covid-19 greater than one percent, except perhaps in high-risk groups that include the elderly and those with comorbidities. This is particularly true with today’s variants. In fact, many of those in the high-risk group who succumbed to Covid-19 would more than likely have died from the flu as well. After all, we do see tens of thousands of flu deaths every year. It all boils down to immune system status, and with the diet and lifestyle practices even of those in our own church, it does not require rocket science to understand why so many become ill in the first place.
The bottom line is that James Standish has gone far beyond his area of expertise by promoting wildly unsupported claims in a concerted effort to convince those in our church of his distorted and dangerous perspective. He has accused faithful Seventh-day Adventists who challenge the status quo of being extremists and asserting that their non-compliant behavior will jeopardize the lives of others. Ironically, however, if his flawed narrative is embraced by those in our church, the blood of millions will be on his hands – not on those who he has so flippantly labeled extremists.

Father and son are not alike. James D. Standish is a far cry from his father Russell Standish. I do believe Dr. Russell Standish would roll over in his grave if he knew the un-constitutional stance of his son. But, then, what did Ellen G. White say would happen to the Constitution of the United States of America at the end of time?
He’s a disgrace to our church and to his father. Also, how on earth do people think it’s ok to go to jesuit institutions and not be tainted⁉️
Agree. And why are they allowed to hold positions in the corporate SDA when their education was acquired at JESUIT SCHOOLS AND UNIVERSITIES? That should be at the top of the list of guidelines for hiring a person to hold office at the GC, division, union, or conference level! It’s akin to hiring Typhoid Mary (any Jesuit school alumni) to cook (feed you spiritually) for you expecting to not be infected with her deadly germs(theology)… whatever happened to the wisdom of “as you behold you become changed”?
I was just contemplating how our worst enemies would be of our household… the leadership of Eli’s day were the people’s worst enemies…they changed God’s rules, made up their own rules and abused the people by doing so. We have conferences, unions, divisions, and the GC CHANGING THE RULES AND ABUSING THE MEMBERS! Mandates, ad com statements, and articles like the one referred to above is abusive and the cries of the faithful will enter the ears of the Lord of Saboath!
As an 82yo lifelong SDA (three of my great uncles were pioneers in the SDA church), I find it equally appalling that Standish is even given a platform for the gibberish he is spouting. Dr Peter McCullough is a heroic defender of the truth his detractors are so maliciously trying to dismiss. I have personally lost confidence in the corporate SDA church, although I believe it is still, at least publicly, taking the gospel around the world, so there must still be some in leadership who believe in our last day message. I believe, as Pastor CD Brooks said, the Church Triumphant will come out of the SDA church, and I believe that will happen when the shaking, prophesied by Ellen White happens. God bless Arnie for speaking truth to lies, hopefully this will be a wake up call to some in the church.

AMEN! I agree! My sister and I just had dinner with my Uncle (who was raised SDA, he was estranged from our family for years. We learned that he has received several “vaccines” and is scheduled for his booster in May! 😔 But, like Mrs. White says, (I’m paraphrasing here), no matter how much evidence of truth one gives it will not change convince them otherwise! This is one reason God allows them to be blind.

Prominent positions in the General Conference does not equate necessarily with wisdom. It seems as though the question of Covid shots (it’s not a vaccine), is polarizing the Seventh Day Adventist church. The proponents of the shot seem to resort to calling the opposition names and questioning their fitness to be in the church. Why? Do they think their reasoning is better? Why can there not be freedom of choice? If they want to get the shot and feel it is best for them, so be it. What happened to the health message? God has provided us with healthful practices that are much safer and better for our bodies. The government and big Pharma have been doing this for years and people have become sheep, not thinking for themselves. But, it’s all a part of the last day prophecy. We must stand strong.

I know of several people that took the “jab” and have died from blood clots in the brain and in other parts of the body. There are many people that have gotten the shot and still have gotten Covid19, and given it to others!
This vaccine was created to kill people, not to save lives. (That is my personal opinion). It is nothing like the vaccines we took as kids to prevent childhood diseases. Times have changed from when we were young. I am 74 years old. I would never take that “vaccine”. I eat a healthy vegetarian diet, and have done so for over 45 years. I have not so much as had a cold since the outbreak of Covid19.
I know it has killed thousands, it is a real virus. I do not believe it has killed as many as they say it has. Maybe half as many or less. It was created to kill as many people as possible. It just did not kill as many as people like Fauci and Bill Gates was hoping it would kill. We will never know how many have died from taking the vaccine, due to its side effects!
Folks, this is not the last virus we will encounter. They (Fauci, Gates, etc.) are just getting warmed up!!! In fact, they are already talking about a new variant. How convenient. We are in the little time of trouble, and we need to put our hope and faith in God.

There is no place in our periodicals for such opinions. It’s to the place where I won’t even read them. Satan has inserted himself into our organization and is deceiving many. We have to stay close to Jesus and know truth and stand firm. If many of us choose to take care of our bodies and not get the poison vaccine, the church has no business interfering.

How incredibly sad that James Standish would be published in the the Adventist Review on April 22 with such an article that is so one sided and misinformed. I personally believe that he will be on the wrong side for the fence when the Sunday law is enforced on everyone and seen from the narrative that this is for the good of all of society. Will he then suggest that those who exercise their God given right to choose for themselves, that we are all to be “treated as miscreants and opposed,” as well. Sister White informed us that we would have, “more to fear from within than without.” She also wrote that we would have to, “gather warmth from the coldness from others.” I guess James Standish has decided to take on the spirit of a Joe Biden or Trudeau rather then the spirit of Jesus Christ.
Those of us that have been blessed with simple, basic common sense can clearly see that we have WOLFS among us and Standish is among them! His distorted summation of the vaccines is an absolute contradiction to the meaning of Religious Freedom.
Might want to add the editor of the Review Bill Knot to the list as well. He bears just as much of the responsibility for letting an article like this get published.

As faithful to Jesus we must take everything to prayer. I did not have the jab and until now able to work as a teacher by the grace of God.
Multiple times I attempted to get the vaccine but sioent prayers were answered by unsuitable circumstances which I take as God saying “No, I can take care of you.”
It must be remembered that the sda church is a corporation, subject to the dictates of the state. If those dictates are not followed, ( employment of morally diseased, acceptance of catholic doctrines, etc.) Then the tax free status, 501 ( c) 3 will be forfeited and the avoided tax repaid. The state has the authority to sell up the church to recoup the avoided tax and any shortfall in the tax must be paid by church members, who are simply employees. Where is God in such an apostate organisation? Is it any wonder that weak sermons are preached, to keep the troops happy?
Standish is in deed a “Wolf” amongst us and should not be allowed to spread division. I am so heart sick by what is happening in our local church due to a few members who sound just like Standish. God created us with a miraculous immune system, and we shouldn’t be demonized for refusing this poisoners jab. God never used coercion……He created us with freedom of choice. We don’t want to harm anyone, and are not the cause of death amongst our family or church members. 89% of vaccinated get Covid, and only 11% of unvaccinated. Stay healthy everyone and look up……Jesus coming is so close.

I am learning more and more that The Church is “people.” Not a building. Not an institution.
If people, like Standish, think I must gamble my LIFE on a VERY questionable drug or lose membership in the church, then I do not have to “fly the SDA banner.” Christian, Jesus Follower, is all I need on my door posts.

Open letter to Standish and other Adventists of his ilk:
Never before in the history of the planet have people been marginalized all over the world (and in many cases, persecuted) for refusing a medical procedure. The church should be a sanctuary for those who exercise the freedom of conscience that God gives to all men, a freedom your church has staunchly defended for well over a century, but you have shown yourselves throughout this contrived so-called covid “pandemic” to be of the same spirit as the world. Covid has mercifully peeled back the thin, shiny veneer of your church and your own character to reveal the rotting spiritual corpse you are. You apparently advocate for liberties as freedom of conscience so long as they don’t cause you personal conflict or require your organization to come into opposition to the world.
Have you addressed the lives uprooted by loss of jobs for refusing the gene therapy cocktail of drugs you call a “vaccine”? Did those people deserve to have their lives and reputations destroyed due to an honest refusal of a drug that alters your very genetics? Have you mentioned the children showing developmental delays due to being forced to wear masks all day, every day, at school and unable to see and learn from mouth movements when friends and teachers are speaking? Have you thought about the creation of an entire subset of millions of neurotic people who are unable or unwilling to go outside or in public without standing six feet apart or wearing a mask when neither of these things has been shown to make any difference whatsoever in covid transmission?
Why don’t you talk about the trillions of fiat dollars created out of thin air and helicoptered to the masses as “hush money” which doubles as a convenient segue to universal basic income? I would also like to know if you’ve discussed the harm done to society by forcing people to isolate and work from home, children losing a year of education, depression and suicides skyrocketing, and the hundreds of thousands of businesses being forced to close. And what do you think about the mom and pop hardware business that had to shut down, while Lowe’s and Home Depot were allowed to stay open? Or the local produce stand forced to shut its doors while Walmart remained open 24 hours a day?
And among your articles extolling the virtues of the Marxist “Black Lives Matter” movement, did you dig into why a church with 50 members had to close, but BLM rioters could pack the streets by the thousands with the blessing of thousands of public health officials who officially declared that all those “peaceful protests” were not a covid risk? I must have missed that article.
Have you written anything about the hundreds of thousands of people (just in the United States) who have died as a result of the “vaccine” you promote with satanic zeal? Or how about the millions who have suffered from side effects, many of them life-altering and debilitating, only to be told they have “anxiety”?
I would also like to know where I can find the article in which you empathize with family members whose loved ones were killed in healthcare institutions by being denied access to proven, inexpensive, early treatments, but rather given expensive (and proven deadly) Remdesivir and premature ventilator support. Do you know that hospitals killed most of those who had covid? What about your own healthcare institutions? Were you complicit in killing covid patients?
Do you know that medical malpractice has been a top ten leading cause of death each year for decades? Do you see a conflict of interest in the fact that hospitals get financial rewards for every covid positive case, every covid admission, every Remdesivir dose given, every covid patient placed on a ventilator, and every death with a covid cause of death? What about the doctors who refuse to treat those who refuse the “vaccine”? Are you agreement with this? If so, you are no better than your father, the devil.
Do you support the lockdowns and the total harm they caused, while providing NOT ONE shred of evidence, anywhere on the planet, that lockdowns were at all effective in preventing morbidity and mortality from covid? Why are you not writing about the demonic lockdowns the Chinese Communist Party is imposing against its own people, shutting down some of the largest ports in the world, and contributing to supply chain disruptions and food shortages?
What about all those people?
Or the fact that the CCP since covid started has been routinely beating to death the family pets of those who tested positive for covid? Is this not an evil far more egregious than refusing a drug that has killed many thousands of people?
The SDA church spends far more time criticizing its own members for refusing a gene-altering drug than it does calling attention to the world for persecuting those who refuse to go along with the propaganda.
Why should you be “all in” promoting a drug with no long-term data showing efficacy or safety? Do you not know that vaccines generally take around 10 years from conception to market, no matter what technology is employed, because TIME (and lots of it) is always required to determine safety and efficacy for the short, mid, and long term periods?
Since when is it the corporate church’s responsibility to tell me what drug I should or should not take? What right do you have to speak where God Himself has not spoken? Hypocrites.
That I or anyone else should have to explain this to you only illustrates how unfit for the job you are.
What you care about is aligning with the world so that you get a place at the table. Like many other denominations, you folded like a house of cards and showed you trusted “the science” more than you trusted God. And we are supposed to believe you can guide God’s people through the time of the end? You can’t even guide us through a planned pandemic. If you can’t make a pretense of trusting God now, when the grass is green, are we really to think you can lead in the dry? You obviously can’t run with the footmen now, so when the chariots come (and they will come) you will get crushed underneath the wheels.
This plandemic was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for the SDA Church to stand up, stand apart from the crowd, and show the world what God is like in a way that no one living had ever seen before. This was your opportunity to shine, to be that light that pointed the world to the Savior. Instead, you went cowering to Fauci and bowed at the altar of the pseudo-science of demonic covid restrictions and requirements. You should be aware that in the very last passage of the Bible that mentions a list of people who will not be allowed into the Kingdom of God (Revelation 21:8) “cowards” is listed first.
The corporate church is a sick entity. You aren’t even white-washed any longer. You have made a laughing stock of yourselves to the world, who was looking for something solid, steady, and noble to help them through this pandemic. Instead, you disgrace the church and you give the enemies of the cross an occasion to blaspheme.
Leadership likes yours is one of the reasons why I have not stepped inside an Adventist church in many years. This “church” is increasingly smelling an awful lot like Laodicea, spoiled, rotten, decaying, and you are in danger of being spit out of the mouth of God.
God will judge Bill Gates, the pope, Anthony Fauci, presidents, prime ministers, governors, monarchs, leaders, organizations, nations, big pharma, and individuals who had any part in this greatest deception of our times. But His judgment will begin at His house and it will not be pleasant for any who had pretensions of piety but took part in the evils of this world. May the Lord rebuke you.

I go to a very small SDA Church that is conservative. My tithe goes to an independent ministry and my offering always goes to fund our small faithful church.
Our conference has had us in the crosshairs for years now. I will not be surprised if they lock us out of the church that the MEMBERS BUILT AND PAID FOR. Liberals are not known for their integrity or solid Christian character.
Keep the faith with the faithful. There are many home churches being started where liberals control the conference churches. Maybe there is a home church near you. May God help us!

Many people do not know the true facts on the COVID vaccination and how many people have been killed by it or have severe side affects from it. Many people do not have computers or do not know how to do the research. They are unaware that there are many Doctors and nurses speaking out against the vaccination and boosters. They do not know how to boost their immune systems. We have a huge job ahead of us to helps our neighbors. Also, I want to thank everyone that have made comments, they were very good.
Firstly we know there are “Wolves” in sheep’s clothing amongst us . There are more Jesuits than you would like believe in our midst. Look at where they attended schools. James Standish attended the well known Jesuit University. “Standish received his Juris Doctor, cum laude, from Georgetown University.” That tells me everything I need to know. Here is the second thing….representative to the US Government in Washington DC, and the United Nations in New York and Geneva. We should have nothing to do with the WHO or UN. Just my opinion. We must come out of her and not join hands. I pray for all of our leaders and members.
