Khunti Seventh-day Adventist Senior Secondary School is an institution located in eastern India. It was established in 1937 and is listed in the Seventh-day Adventist Yearbook. [1] For more than 80 years this school has trained young people with the gospel in hopes of leading them to Christ and preparing them for the mission field. Unfortunately, many of our institutions that were originally designed to train our youth for the finishing of the work have lost their vision. These once sacred and consecrated facilities established by our forefathers through hard work and sacrifice are now being used for reasons that God never intended.
Khunti Seventh-day Adventist Senior Secondary School celebrated a “Teacher’s Day” last month in September 2021. The day started out with celebrating the school’s administrators and teachers, but then ended with confusion, blaring secular music and wild dancing. It was the same kind of revelry and party atmosphere that you see in a worldly dance club; but this didn’t take place in a nightclub, it took place on the campus of a Seventh-day Adventist institution.
Secular music and shameful dances that resemble the pagan rituals of the ancient Canaanites have replaced the holiness, reverence and awe that we must render to God. What has happened to quality Christian education within our institutions? Where are the moral values that are supposed to be transmitted both inside and outside the classroom? Is this school even a safe place for children anymore? Or have many of our institutions become a threat to their spirituality? Notice the words of inspiration:
“Eternal things have little weight with the youth. Angels of God are in tears as they write in the roll the words and acts of professed Christians. Angels are hovering around yonder dwelling. The young are there assembled; there is the sound of vocal and instrumental music. Christians are gathered there, but what is that you hear? It is a song, a frivolous ditty, fit for the dance hall. Behold the pure angels gather their light closer around them, and darkness envelops those in that dwelling. The angels are moving from the scene. Sadness is upon their countenances. Behold, they are weeping. This I saw repeated a number of times all through the ranks of Sabbathkeepers, and especially in —–.” (Testimonies, Vol. 1, p. 505, 1867).

You can’t put all the blame on the young people. School officials are also responsible. They allow this, they tolerate it and if they provided the sound system or gave permission for this then they are encouraging this type of behavior. This is not preparing young people for heaven, but for the world. Church administrators from the union have a duty to step in and stop this frivolity and moral decadence on our campuses because this does not reflect Seventh-day Adventism, this is what the world does.
If school administrators are going to allow dancing that does not reflect the character and spirit that should exist in our institutions, then they need to be retrained or replaced. But, tragically, what usually happens in these cases is NOTHING. Nothing changes. Bad behavior is ignored and error continues to flourish. Some will make excuses to accommodate these indefensible activities. Finally, full-blown apostasy follows.

It’s time for the leadership in India to do some deep soul-searching. The ability of people to believe that they’re right when they are wrong knows no bounds. But these are the days when too many are embracing moral relativism instead of prayerfully seeking God’s inspired word to find out what we ought to do.
“The ancient men, those to whom God had given great light and who had stood as guardians of the spiritual interests of the people, had betrayed their trust … Thus ‘Peace and safety’ is the cry from men who will never again lift up their voice like a trumpet to show God’s people their transgressions and the house of Jacob their sins. These dumb dogs that would not bark are the ones who feel the just vengeance of an offended God” (Testimonies, Vol. 5, p. 211).

We are now living in the great day of atonement. Music is the idol which many professed Sabbathkeeping Christians worship. Satan has no objection to music if he can make that a channel through which to gain access to the minds of the youth. Anything will suit his purpose that will divert the mind from God and engage the time which should be devoted to His service.
