“The way of the wicked is as darkness: they know not at what they stumble.” Proverbs 4:19.
Today we saw the light from the sun become dark during the middle of the day. When the moon’s path collides with that of the suns’ the light becomes dark. So today, our nation is being swept into another kind of darkness – a darkness of sin, ignorance, error and unbelief. The pure light of the gospel which would illuminate our nation is being rejected. When we turn from God, we turn from the light. This light would prevent our people from stumbling into the darkness of confusion, hopelessness, division, misery and death.
The gospel light that we so desperately need to bring healing to our lives and nation is being eclipsed by certain workers of darkness (Ephesians 5:11) who are trying to bring society into an eternal destruction and ruin. We see the nations warring, we see society divided and rioting and we see our fellow-citizens in anxiety and desperation. Our nation is stumbling and we can’t even see the obstacles and impediments that is causing our ruin. This is the condition of those who refuse to walk in the light of God’s truth:
“We grope for the wall like the blind, and we grope as if we had no eyes: we stumble at noonday as in the night; we are in desolate places as dead men” Isaiah 59:10.
We don’t need a once-in-a-lifetime solar eclipse to tell us that, yes, we are judgment bound and our nation is in trouble. Society lives as though there is no God and as though we are not accountable to anyone. We are reminded that there are signs in nature and in the world that remind us that the day of the Lord is coming:
“The sun will be turned to darkness and the moon to blood before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord.” Joel 2:31.
The complete, solar eclipse viewed from coast to coast was an amazing display of both the power of God and of His nature. We truly live in an amazing universe that testifies to the glory of our Creator. Man was completely powerless to stay the darkness that came to our nation. But there is a darkness that’s even more cold, more blinding and more sinister than a complete, solar eclipse and that’s the darkness of sin and disobedience.
When any nation starts seeing baby body parts being sold for profit by wicked deviants, know for certain that those nations are judgment bound. When you see the complete desecration of the entire family institution, with dads becoming moms, girls becoming boys and babies being born with the DNA of 3 parents, you can be certain that God will require from us an account of what in the world were we thinking. When doctors and scientists in our nation start playing God through cloning, human cell manipulation, euthanasia, and abortion, you can bet that America is headed for judgment – with or without a solar eclipse.
There is only one way to turn all of this darkness into light. God has given us the solution and the answer on how all of our darkness can turn into the beautiful, glorious light of noonday:
“Is not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke? Is it not to deal thy bread to the hungry, and that thou bring the poor that are cast out to thy house? when thou seest the naked, that thou cover him; and that thou hide not thyself from thine own flesh? Then shall thy light break forth as the morning, and thine health shall spring forth speedily: and thy righteousness shall go before thee; the glory of the LORD shall be thy rereward. Then shalt thou call, and the LORD shall answer; thou shalt cry, and he shall say, Here I am. If thou take away from the midst of thee the yoke, the putting forth of the finger, and speaking vanity; And if thou draw out thy soul to the hungry, and satisfy the afflicted soul; then shall thy light rise in obscurity, and thy darkness be as the noonday: And the LORD shall guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in drought, and make fat thy bones: and thou shalt be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not.” Isaiah 58:6-11.
