Wade. It’s sad, however, that a Supreme Court with Catholic members who are voting to overturn the ruling are more inline with the Scriptures than the Adventist Church. The refusal of the church to stand decidedly against abortion (and some of their own institutions performing them) was the last straw for me. I could no longer justify supporting a church (with presence or tithes) that constantly lectured me about how to keep the 4th commandment but was complicit in the violation of the 6th. To offend in one point makes us guilty of all, so going to church on Saturdays and sleeping your afternoons away does not qualify anyone admission through the pearly gates. The self-righteousness of the uber-Sabbatarian Pharisees unfitted them for the Kingdom, but if we ignore the weightier matters of the law, we’ll be just as lost.

I do not know if Adventists know this or not, but keeping the Sabbath does not secure you a one-way ticket to heaven. Nobody is going to be able to look God square in the eyes and justify themselves about how pork has never passed between their lips or how they refused to walk on the beach during Sabbath hours, while their hearts were hardened against the wholesale slaughter of innocent babies to Molech.

I am in no way supportive or defensive of the wicked Catholic Church, but the fact that it does have, as official doctrine, a much better and Scriptural view on the most important social issue of our time puts the Adventist Church to shame.
