** "This unequaled phenomenon proves beyond the shadow of any doubt that the God of the Hebrew Scriptures is the Jesus of the Christian Church." **

I would suggest that the above statement could be understood to be in conflict with a plain reading of Scripture. Perhaps we should permit the Scriptures to reveal to us who the God of the Christian Church is supposed to be and what the identity of Jesus Christ truly is. The greater weight of evidence from Scripture must be the only unequaled phenomenon that informs us.

John 5:26  For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself;
- The Father (#1) gave the Son (#2) the life that he has in himself. Jesus Christ is the Son of God the Father. John is not here informing us that Jesus Christ gave life unto himself.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
- If the God of the Bible gave his Son, then God (the Father) must have had a Son (Jesus Christ) to give.
- 1 John 4:9 In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.

John 14:28 Ye have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come again unto you. If ye loved me, ye would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father: for my Father (#1) is greater than I (#2).
- "I" refers Jesus (#2) who goes to the Father (#1)
- The Father (#1) is greater than I (#2)
- How is the Father "greater" than Jesus? The Father is the God of Jesus. See:
---Heb. 1:9 - Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, EVEN THY GOD, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.
---Eph1:17 - That THE GOD OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST, THE FATHER OF GLORY, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him:
---John 20:17 - ...and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and TO MY GOD, and your God.
---Rev 3:12 - ...and I will write upon him the name of MY GOD, and the name of the city of MY GOD...
---1 Cor 11:3 - But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and THE HEAD OF CHRIST IS GOD.
- If Jesus were the God of the Hebrew Scriptures, then this would mean that we have a God, who has a God. This is nowhere affirmed in the Bible. Instead, as we will soon see, our God is the Father in heaven.

John 17:3 And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.
- Knowing the only true God (#1) and Jesus Christ(#2) whom the only true God sent is the definition of eternal life!!! This is huge and I think we should all pay very close attention...
- Who is the only true God? It cannot be that the only true God is Jesus Christ, otherwise John didn't express coherent thought while under inspiration. John makes it clear that the God of the Christian church is the Father, just as in the Hebrew Scriptures.

Rom 15:6 That ye may with one mind and one mouth glorify God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
- Paul is crystal clear that the Father of Jesus Christ is the God of Hebrew Scriptures
- 1Cor 8:6 But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him.
---"To us" (the Jews/Hebrews) "there is but one God..." Who is it? Jesus Christ? No. It is "the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him."

Paul separately and repeatedly identifies Jesus as "Lord" and always identifies the Father as "God".
- Php 2:11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord (#2), to the glory of God the Father (#1).

See also the salutation in nearly all of the New Testament epistles:
- Rom 1:7 To all that be in Rome, beloved of God, called to be saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father (#1), AND the Lord Jesus Christ (#2).
- 1 Cor 1:3 Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father (#1), AND from the Lord Jesus Christ (#2).
- 2 Cor 1:2 Grace be to you and peace from God our Father, AND from the Lord Jesus Christ.
- Gal 1:1 Paul, an apostle, (not of men, neither by man, but by Jesus Christ (#1), AND God the Father (#2), who raised him from the dead;)
- Gal 1:3 Grace be to you and peace from God the Father (#1), AND from our Lord Jesus Christ (#2),
- Eph 1:2-3 Grace be to you, and peace, from God our Father (#1), AND from the Lord Jesus Christ (#2).
- Eph 6:23 Peace be to the brethren, and love with faith, from God the Father(#1) AND the Lord Jesus Christ (#2).
- Php 1:2 Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father (#1), AND from the Lord Jesus Christ (#2).
- Col 1:2 To the saints and faithful brethren in Christ which are at Colosse: Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father (#1) AND the Lord Jesus Christ (#2).
- 1 Thes 1:1 Paul, and Silvanus, and Timotheus, unto the church of the Thessalonians which is in God the Father (#1) AND in the Lord Jesus Christ (#2): Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father (#1), AND the Lord Jesus Christ (#2).
- 2 Thes 1:1-2 Paul, and Silvanus, and Timotheus, unto the church of the Thessalonians in God our Father (#1) AND the Lord Jesus Christ (#2): Grace unto you, and peace, from God our Father (#1) AND the Lord Jesus Christ (#2).
-1 Tim 1:2 Unto Timothy, my own son in the faith: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God our Father (#1) AND Jesus Christ our Lord (#2).
- 2 Tim 1:2 To Timothy, my dearly beloved son: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God the Father (#1) AND Christ Jesus (#2) our Lord.
- Titus 1:4 To Titus, mine own son after the common faith: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God the Father (#1) AND the Lord Jesus Christ (#2) our Saviour.
- Philemon 1:3 Grace to you, and peace, from God our Father (#1) AND the Lord Jesus Christ (#2).
- Hebrews 1:1-2  God (#1), who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,   Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son (#2), whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;
- James 1:1 James, a servant of God (#1) and of the Lord Jesus Christ (#2), to the twelve tribes which are scattered abroad, greeting.
- 1 Pet 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father (#1) of our Lord Jesus Christ (#2), which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead
- 2 Pet 1:2 Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God (#1), AND of Jesus our Lord (#2)
- 1 John 1:3 That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father (#1), AND with his Son Jesus Christ (#2).
- 2 John 1:3 Grace be with you, mercy, and peace, from God the Father (#1), AND from the Lord Jesus Christ (#2), the Son (#2) of the Father (#1), in truth and love.
- Jude 1:1 Jude, the servant of Jesus Christ, and brother of James, to them that are sanctified by God the Father (#1), AND preserved in Jesus Christ (#2), and called:
- Rev 1:1-2 The Revelation of Jesus Christ (#2), which God (#1) gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John: Who bare record of the word of God (#1), AND of the testimony of Jesus Christ (#2), and of all things that he saw.

Many more verses, possibly hundreds, could be provided that plainly and clearly state that Jesus Christ is not THE God of the Hebrew Scriptures, but rather that he is the Son of the God of the Hebrew Scriptures. All things belong unto Christ by inheritance from his Father (Heb 1:4) - even his very life as we previously read from John 5:26. The Father is divine and possess all the fullness of the Godhead (divinity), thus it should not be surprising that Jesus Christ, being the Son of God, possess all the fullness of divinity. Christ is divine, yet he is distinct and separate from God. To proclaim Jesus Christ as the Son of God is to exalt him as he should be. To affirm that Christ is the God of Scripture or even to claim that he is a coequal/coeternal is to misidentify him and thus destroys his personality and that of God the Father. We must never do this. This is not a side issue, nor is it a false test:

1 John 2:22-23 Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son. Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: (but) he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also.
