I also attend a small "forgotten" SDA church. We can say pretty much what we want. We have some good discussions in our class. We also have a like-minded group that meets to discuss what's really going on, and nothing is held back. God is leading and hiding us under the radar for now. If little inroads could be made in many congregations, God would multiply the results, and who knows? We are told that God is going to take charge of His flock Himself. I believe it. We can start at the bottom with the love of Christ, and work our way up. If God be in it, who can stop us?

My dear sister I agree that in certain areas the church has taken various stances in not pushing ecumenism but in other areas it has lapsed speaking between both sides of the mouth. In so doing they have placed us in a position of compromise.

We have to not see what is said but what has been done. The entire Old testament is full of proof that Israel kept apostatizing. Is it any different for us? Many times well intentioned leaders have caused many to ere. In the Great Controversy it tells us not to put trust in the leadership, in the chapter of "The Scriptures a Safeguard" Our salvation is only dependant on Christ. We must be wary and exercise discernment. Read Jeremiah 7. Be blessed beloved of Our heavenly Father and His most blessed son.

I believe you are right with #1. When you consider who and what his father was, then it becomes clear. B/c the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. Just look at past history, his father, GC president said under oath, that EGW's writings belong on the trash heap. This is documented, look it up.

Is sad to read some of the phrases in this article and some of the phrases in the comments.

Some examples that reveal that we are jumping into conclusions:

"Let’s not pretend Ted Wilson is unaware of the information contained in the book “Let Mutual Love Continue.”

Maybe Ted has not read the book. Is a busy person and maybe is more worried about preaching the gospel and distributing the great controversy than reading this book. Moreover, maybe Casely Essamuach give him for the first time as a gift. I use the word maybe because I cannot affirm with infallibility anything. But the tone of the article is like you are infallible and know everything.

Let me tell you an experience: when I was in a youth congress in Poland many years ago, at the opening ceremony were invited the major of the city and other personalities, like two catholic priests. Then they received an Adventist book as a gift. So this events that you call ecumenical without base, can be an opportunity to spread our message.

In this article, we can read the phrase "ecumenical lunch". It will be ecumenical if they are reunited to sign ecumenical agreements. For me, I think people of another faiths were invited to the opening ceremony and then they ate together. If you are eating with persons of other religions, that fact doesn't convert you into an ecumenical person. What converts you into ecumenical is signing agreements that violate our fundamental beliefs. So calling this an ecumenical lunch is jumping again into conclusions.

You say also in the article "the leadership's unwillingness to be open and transparent about their ecumenical activities". I think they are being totally transparent in the sense that they don't have had this lunch in secret. If taking lunch with a person from a different faith is an ecumenical activity I dare that even the writer of this article is ecumenical because at some point in his life he has shared a meal with friends or relatives from other faiths.

Finally i will share a quote from the comments that say: He knew he had an ecumenical lunch ahead but at the same time portrayed himself to be on the side of the church. I can’t trust him anymore."

I repeat that is not an ecumenical lunch because they are not signing any agreement that violates our faith. This person is telling in other words that Ted Wilson is showing two faces. I tell this person that if Ted Wilson was really ecumenical, he wouldn't advise us in his preachings about the emergent church or ecumenism and not distribute the great controversy as he has done and the general conference is planning to do in the following years. Please think before writing some kind of comments. You are not infallible.

Our answer to this dilemma is found in the same book PP401.2 where it says "Yet God in His great mercy made a distinction between the leaders in rebellion and those whom they had led. The people who had permitted themselves to be deceived were still granted space for repentance....Jesus, the Angel who went before the Hebrews, sought to save them from destruction. Forgiveness was lingering for them. The judgment of God had come very near, and appealed to them to repent. A special, irresistible interference from heaven had arrested their rebellion. Now, if they would respond to the interposition of Gods providence, they might be saved." The message of mercy given in 1888 applies today for each of us whether the issue involves religious groups or civil government leadership.
