We are living in the judgment hour and great day of atonement. This should be the overarching belief that governs our conduct, requiring us to observe due solemnity at all times and in all places. Furthermore, Seventh-Day Adventists have been called by God to be a peculiar people and a Royal priesthood.

There is absolutely nothing about this worship service that denotes this calling. This is a church service mimicking a party or club atmosphere complete with a DJ or Selecta as they are referred to in Jamaica with music that evokes physical movement of a worldly nature and is essentially a mixture of the holy with the profane.

The use of steel pan music in worship services is right up there with the aforesaid because we are all aware of the origins of and typical setting for this kind of music and I should not be as alarmed as I am that this is even occurring because the church is in the Laodicean condition globally and has clearly abandoned the message of Revelation 14:7.

The fact that you see nothing wrong with this highly irreverent conduct is extremely disheartening. But our God will not be mocked. He is returning for a holy and purified church, not one which bears increasing resemblance to the world and nominal churches while professing to be readying themselves and others for His imminent return.

We are in dire need of Revival and Reformation. We must be born again and live lives of self denial in every respect including our musical tastes and selections or we shall surely be numbered with the unrighteous and be eternally lost.

Please give me the Bible passage that shows which type of music today is the choice of heaven. All of us have a bias when it come to music and it is based on the environment that we came up in. To try to deny that is only to lie to oneself.

What one may consider conformity to the world, another may not see it that way.

Trinidad uses the steel pan in its church services. Are you saying they are conforming to the world. IF we take that conformity argument, we would not use anything, as it is all created by the world and not Adventists.

Just because someone may like rhythm in their music and another may not, does not mean the rhythm is not acceptable conduct for a Christian.

We need to stop trying to impose cultural preferences onto the Bible.

Are you a Seventh Day Adventist or more importantly, are you a Christian? Have Christians not been admonished against conformity to the world, that Christianity signifies becoming a new creation and that we are to walk in newness of life? The Bible supersedes whatever “culture” we were born into so this has absolutely nothing to do with “tearing down of musical expressions of other cultures” but everything to do with what is acceptable conduct for a Christian, particularly when assembled for worship before a Holy and Righteous God while living in the Judgement Hour no less. This is inexcusable.

Why is it that there are those of us who like to tear down as wrong the musical expressions of other cultures, because we believe our musical expressions from our culture is correct. So if they were just sitting there dry and stoic and singing classical, that is the acceptable kind of music and expression.

We need to be careful trying to make our preferences the rule for everyone.
