Go woke, go broke.
On Tuesday, January 28, 2025, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt discussed Donald Trump’s accomplishments at her first press conference with reporters. A reporter asked her about Trump’s freeze on federal grants and financial assistance to nonprofits and other NGOs. The Trump administration has reportedly suspended all grant money until it has a chance to review whether those receiving federal funds are in line with the president’s priorities, including his executive orders on immigration.
The following question was put to Donald Trump’s press secretary:
• “Does the president intend to permanently cut off funding to NGOs that are bringing illegal foreign nationals into the country, such as Catholic Charities?” (Video)
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt responded in the affirmative:
• “I am actually quite certain that the president signed an executive order that did just that.” (Video)
Catholic charities and other aid organizations, such as the Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA), have received billions of dollars to assist immigrants heading to the southern border of the United States. [1] These organizations provide aid such as cash, credit cards, food vouchers, food items, housing, and medical care to immigrants heading north. ADRA has been receiving money from the government for years and has also used that money to pay for vouchers and food cards for immigrants traveling to America. [2]
The Trump administration has just suspended all money for NGOs because it believes that federal funds are being used to help illegal immigrants break the law. And it’s not just Trump who believes that. 55% of Americans support deporting all immigrants who are in the country illegally. [3]
This means that NGOs, such as ADRA, are seen as helping to facilitate the illegal entry of immigrants. By assisting migrants in their journey to the United States, many Americans see these organizations as helping to support human trafficking, child trafficking, and exploitation by cartels. In addition, Donald Trump campaigned and won the presidential election by expressing that illegal immigration places a burden on public resources, overburdens social services, and fosters resentment among legal immigrants who follow proper procedures, and more than half of the population supports him. [4]
There is no doubt that the migration crisis has become so politicized and polarized in our country. That is why ADRA and other NGOs have been defunded. NGOs should focus on humanitarian aid at the root of the problem, advocating for solutions in the countries from which migrants are fleeing. There is much work to be done there, and all parties would be in agreement if efforts were focused on the source.
This cutting off of funds by President Trump also highlights why ADRA and other church entities should keep their hands in their own pockets when it comes to federal funding. All monies from state or federal agencies always come with strings attached. And unfortunately, our church institutions have become notoriously progressive and woke, thanks to government money.
If ADRA wants to support immigrants traveling to the United States, it has the right to do so if it so chooses. But now they will have to provide those services out of their own pockets.

I had no idea ADRA was involved in such activities. It serves them right to be cut off. I hope they learn their lesson.
“If ADRA wants to support immigrants traveling to the United States, it has the right to do so if it so chooses.” However adra and many of our institutions in direct disobedience to the Commandments of God and the Testimonies of Jesus and are committing spiritual fornication. Adra is an ngo of the UN, and every time God’s people disobeyed Him and joined with the nations around them, horrible were the results. We exalt ourselves above the plain Word of God and God Himself when we disobey Him and think we can join with the nations, thinking we could manipulate satan to accomplish our goals. When we do so, we go without God’s protection putting ourselves on satan’s enchanted grounds, and we will end up serving him, bowing the knee to baal and to our own destruction.
“3 For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies.
4 And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues. ” Revelation 18:3-4 KJV
“13 Yet the LORD testified against Israel, and against Judah, by all the prophets, and by all the seers, saying, Turn ye from your evil ways, and keep my commandments and my statutes, according to all the law which I commanded your fathers, and which I sent to you by my servants the prophets.
14 Notwithstanding they would not hear, but hardened their necks, like to the neck of their fathers, that did not believe in the LORD their God.
15 And they rejected his statutes, and his covenant that he made with their fathers, and his testimonies which he testified against them; and they followed vanity, and became vain, and went after the heathen that were round about them, concerning whom the LORD had charged them, that they should not do like them.
16 And they left all the commandments of the LORD their God, and made them molten images, even two calves, and made a grove, and worshipped all the host of heaven, and served Baal. ” 2 Kings 17:13-16 KJV
“He repeated the instructions given by Moses, that they were to form no allegiance with the idolatrous nations that God had appointed to utter destruction. They were forbidden to manifest the least respect for the gods of the heathen, to take oath by their names, or to join in their worship in any manner. They were warned that familiarity with idolatry would remove their abhorrence of it, and would expose them to God’s displeasure.
We are in as great danger from contact with infidelity as were the Israelites from intercourse with idolaters. The productions of genius and talent too often conceal the deadly poison. Under an attractive guise, themes are presented and thoughts expressed that attract, interest, and corrupt the mind and heart. Thus, in our Christian land, piety wanes, and skepticism and ungodliness are triumphant.
The Israelites were exhorted to make the Lord first in their thoughts and affections, and to cleave unto him as their source of strength. “For the Lord hath driven out from before you great nations and strong; but as for you, no man hath been able to stand before you unto this day.” Joshua reiterated the words of Moses: “One man of you shall chase a thousand; for the Lord your God, he it is that fighteth for you, as he hath promised you.”
He warned the people that if they should in any manner unite with the remnant of the heathen nations still among them, and contract marriages with them, the protecting care of God would surely be removed from Israel, and those very nations would be the instruments of their punishment. “They shall be snares and traps unto you, and scourges in your sides, and thorns in your eyes, until ye perish from off this good land which the Lord your God hath given you.” ST May 19, 1881, par. 4 – ST May 19, 1881, par. 7
“Shall we forget our holy calling, brethren? Shall the mournful deterioration of piety be seen among us, that caused the rejection of the Jewish nation? Shall we who have had so great light upon Bible truth let a dry, dead formalism take the place of zeal and faith? Is our light to go out in darkness? Are we not to work zealously to counteract the arts of the enemy? We must watch and pray. We must arouse and take in the situation. We are in the day of atonement, and we are to work in harmony with Christ’s work of cleansing the sanctuary from the sins of the people. Let no man who desires to be found with the wedding garment on, resist our Lord in his office work. As he is, so will his followers be in this world. We must now set before the people the work which by faith we see our great High-priest accomplishing in the heavenly sanctuary. Those who do not sympathize with Jesus in his work in the heavenly courts, who do not cleanse the soul temple of every defilement, but who engage in some enterprise not in harmony with this work, are joining with the enemy of God and man in leading minds away from the truth and work for this time.” RH January 21, 1890, par. 4

If you and your family were in such a dire situation in your country that you had to uproot and try to bring them to a better place and you were starving on the way. I’m sure you would be thankful an organization like ADRA took the time to assist you. How sad that we are criticizing one of our most noble organizations just because the government is reframimg what they do in a negative light. Ezekiel 16:49 Ezekiel 16:49 NIV
