“For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy.” 2 Timothy 3:2.
The Bible describes that in the last days just before the second coming of Jesus that many children will be brutal, violent and uncivilized, stubbornly perverse, rebellious, and willfully disobedient.
“Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents.” Romans 1:29, 30.
We are not simply talking about kids not wanting to go to bed or unwilling to go to school as so many express. These verses describe kids that will be under the control of spiritual forces that are not from God. We are talking about kids that will become evil when left under the control of the evil one.
“And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elias, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.” Luke 1:17.
Evil is real. And God’s word describes an attitude in children that has radically gone wrong. Satan is the father of all evil and disobedience, and it is his purpose to lure not just adults but also our children to disobey their parents and God. This is what we see prevailing in our society today. On these three different occasions we are told that “disobedience” would describe many of the children in the last days.
Kids Attack US Presidential Motorcade
Two middle-school kids threw 2x4s (wood pieces) at the presidential motorcade in West Palm Beach, FL as it moved through the streets. They were protesting Donald Trump’s presidency.
This is how this new generation of kids start out; first they are throwing 2x4s next they will be throwing firebombs. Across the country many other young kids today are participating physical assaults with those who they disagree. They are vandalizing shops, burning cars and attacking the police whenever they don’t get their way.
Kids as Young as 8-years-old Suspected in Violent Robbery
Police recently reported that a violent crime took place in Brooklyn, NY around 12:30 a.m. A 30-year-old man was attacked, beaten, thrown to the ground and robbed of his cell phone, laptop, headphone and library books. Police say the 4 young kids between the ages of 8 and 14 were responsible for the violent robbery.
The neighbors were shocked to hear about the age of the boys and wondered where the parents were and why were these young children out at 12:30 in the morning.
Obviously the parents play a part in this because kids need supervision and parents need to keep control over their children at all hours, especially12:30 in the morning. Or it’s quite possible that some parents just don’t care about their kids. Either way, these kids showed a complete contemptfor law and order, disrespect for elders, greed, selfishness, and violence. But it’s not just the boys doing this, some girls are no better.
13-year-old Girl Plotted a Mass Shooting at School
Kids are losing control and they’re losing a sense of reality. This isn’t only happing in the large cities. In the small town of Tonkawa, OK police arrested a 13-year-old girl who was plotting a mass shooting at her northern Oklahoma high school. Luckily law enforcement officials were able to act upon a tip and they obtained a search warrant. At the girls home they seized ammunition, hand guns, rifles and hand-written notes by the girl targeting her victims. Police were unsure of how this young girl obtained the weapons.
All of these incidents and many others point to the reality of human depravity that is caused by sin. This is all the consequence of lack discipline, no supervision, disobedience, rebellion and sin. What child in their right mind would meticulously plan a mass murder of fellow school kids?
Jesus Loves Children
This is not the whole story because Jesus loves the little children. Jesus came down form heaven to defeat sin and evil. Our children need to look to Christ and know the He loves them. We need to tell our children the God loves them and desires to save them. Yes, we live in a tragic, sin-scarred world but because of God’s infinite love we can have a new life of obedience, free from the rebellious spirit of evil. We are told that those who are saved, both parents and children, must develop a Christ-like character of love, humility, obedience, respect and discipline.
“Those who have had no respect for order or discipline in this life would have no respect for the order which is observed in heaven. They can never be admitted into heaven, for all worthy of an entrance there will love order and respect discipline. The characters formed in this life will determine the future destiny. When Christ shall come, He will not change the character of any individual. Precious, probationary time is given to be improved in washing our robes of character and making them white in the blood of the Lamb” (Testimonies, Vol. 4, p. 429).
It is our prayer they you and your children will look at Christ—for He alone can tear down the wall that separates us from God—the wall caused by sin. Put your faith and trust in Him, for only He can save, restore andgive us true lasting peace and purpose for our lives.
“And all thy children shall be taught of the LORD; and great shall be the peace of thy children. In righteousness shalt thou be established: thou shalt be far from oppression; for thou shalt not fear: and from terror; for it shall not come near thee.” Isaiah 54:13.
