Ted Wilson’s Message to the World Church during the 61st General Conference Session

On Sabbath morning, June 11, 2022, President Ted Wilson delivered the sermon during the 61st General Conference Session. His message was titled “Hold Fast What You Have” and he spoke to the world church in general session as well as to a wider global audience through live streaming. [1] Seated behind Pastor Wilson were the seven General Vice Presidents of the GC and the Presidents of the thirteen world divisions in the Seventh-day Adventist Church, who also serve as Vice Presidents of the General Conference. These leaders represented the church’s top administration.

Ted Wilson spoke about the importance of clinging to our faith as the signs of the end were literally being fulfilled. He once again reiterated the need to earnestly plead for the Latter Rain. Below are the main points from Ted Wilson’s message in which he encouraged the world church to:

• Refuse to accept syncretism and mystical teachings.
• Believe in the six literal consecutive days of creation.
• He expressed his belief in a young earth, around 6,000 years old.
• He emphasized Biblical marriage, one man and one woman.
• Reject anti-biblical forms of sexuality.
• Draw a line between what is sin and what is not sin.
• He thanked the delegates for affirming the Bible and the Spirit of Prophecy.
• He affirmed his personal belief in Ellen White’s inspiration.
• He decried the “manipulation of parliamentary procedures.”
• He warned against ecumenical activity and against the increase in spiritualism.
• Ted Wilson said that ecumenism teaches us to compromise.
• He also said ecumenism distracts from the Three Angels’ Message.
• The full Great Controversy must go to the world.
• Faithfulness is needed for Jesus to come.
• Apostate Protestantism would embrace spiritualism.
• Sunday laws are coming.
• Sunday is a false day of worship.
• Babylon represents a mixing of truth and error.
• He said that even though we love everyone and respect all religions, there is only one true God and one truth.
• He called on us to focus on our calling during these end-times.
• He called us to proclaim the Three Angels’ Message worldwide.

All of this sounds really great, but the question is, “After 12 years in office, when will Ted Wilson and his college of vice presidents actually start implementing many of these points?” It is not enough to simply talk about these issues. What, if anything, will they do about it?

Actions are far more powerful and effective than mere words. In fact, words are meaningless without decided actions. In Romans 16:18, we are warned that “good words” and “fair speeches” can “deceive the hearts of the simple.” Unless our words are followed by concrete action, we are only making a big show of the truth and giving the impression of great sanctity and sincerity. That is why Paul affirmed that pleasant words, by themselves, deceive.

Let us not forget that religious leaders have a long history of making big speeches but then doing little, if anything:

“The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses’ seat: All therefore whatsoever they bid you observe, that observe and do; but do not ye after their works: for they say, and do not.” Matthew 23:2, 3.

It pains me to think that this is just talk and that we, as a people, lack the courage to fight spiritualism, ecumenism, radical sexual ideologies, and other aberrations of the faith. We talk about the need to do something, but where are our convictions to follow through? If we truly believed in all of the issues raised in Ted Wilson’s sermon, a lot more should have been resolved during his 12 years in office.

Ecumenism

For example, if President Ted Wilson was truly concerned about the dangers of ecumenism, Ganoune Diop should be fired because he is one of the chief architects of the worldwide ecumenical movement. Diop should be removed because singing Roman Catholic mass songs in Latin has become the new virtue for our religious liberty work. [2] If we are serious about rejecting ecumenism, Ganoune Diop must go because he promotes unity among Catholics and apostate Protestants in the worldwide ecumenical movement. [3] In fact, Diop paid a visit to the Jesuit headquarters in Rome in order to become a global partner with the Jesuit Order. [4] If we are serious about ending ecumenism, why is he still in a high position of responsibly and trust? And why weren’t the delegates allowed to ask questions about Ganoune Diop’s activities during the vote for his re-election? [5]

Spiritualism

If we are serious about spiritualism, what, if anything, will Ted Wilson and his vice presidents do about ending their diabolic partnership with Disney? If we really believe that spiritualism is evil, as we’re told in the Bible and Spirit of Prophecy, can we not end this partnership with the greatest purveyor of spiritualism today? President Ted Wilson single-handedly used his influence to shut down a discussion about Covid-19 at the world session, [6] but he can’t help shut down the spiritualism that is found within AdventHealth?

Radial LGBT+ Advocates

Again, if we are serious about anti-biblical expressions of sexuality, why are we in partnership with modern-day Sodom and Gomorrah (Disney)? Has money and marketing become more important than morality? Disney is a woke corporation that is committed to spreading transgender ideology to children. [7] [8] President Ted Wilson said in Saturday’s sermon that we must uphold biblical marriage. If this is true, then end this relationship with Disney, and then our words will truly have substance and meaning.

We are living in the final days of human history. The great controversy is about to come to an end. We must do more than simply talk about defending the faith. It’s not enough to simply speak about bringing revival and reformation. I believe in prayer, but our prayers must be followed by action. Our prayers must ask God to give us the courage to work to remove all of the obstacles that prevent us from experiencing revival and reformation and from receiving the Latter Rain.

“Up, sanctify the people, and say, Sanctify yourselves against to morrow: for thus saith the LORD God of Israel, There is an accursed thing in the midst of thee, O Israel: thou canst not stand before thine enemies, until ye take away the accursed thing from among you.” Joshua 7:13.

It is presumptuous to seek God’s blessings while we do nothing to remove the stumbling blocks from among us. There are movements attempting to undermine the pillars of our faith, and God’s prophet instructs us to “meet it firmly and without delay” (1SM 200). Do we truly believe in the writings of the Spirit of Prophecy, as voted on by the world session and expressed by Ted Wilson in his sermon? If so, “Meet it.” This means we must confront these dangerous threats in the church head on. The time for talking is over.

“Let there be most earnest prayer, and then let us work in harmony with our prayers … If our people continue in the listless attitude in which they have been, God cannot pour upon them His Spirit. They are unprepared to co-operate with Him. They are not awake to the situation and do not realize the threatened danger. They should feel now, as never before, their need of vigilance and concerted action” (Testimonies, Vol. 5, pp. 713, 714).
