It seems unbelievable that this question has to be raised in Adventism today. We could never have anticipated such a thing a few years ago. The number of pastors, administrators, and members who have come out in support of having Jesuit-trained leaders has shocked me. [1]
Should parents of Seventh-day Adventist children send their kids to Jesuit priests to learn about the Bible and prepare them for ministry? If not, why? If, as some officials in the Seventh-day Adventist Church claim, there is nothing wrong with a Jesuit education, why don’t we enroll our children in Jesuit schools from kindergarten through college and beyond?
If it’s okay for ordained Seventh-day Adventist pastors to pursue a Jesuit education to prepare them for ministry, then why not the children? Why don’t we just shut down our academies and send everyone to the local Jesuit priests for training? Because this is what is happening today, as some church leaders are proudly displaying their Catholic/Jesuit education for the world to see, ignoring the fact that they are influencing others to follow in their footsteps.
In the book Testimonies to the Church, Vol. 6, Chapter 20, God provides important principles about education and especially addresses the kind of educators Seventh-day Adventists should seek out. The chapter is called “Words from a Heavenly Instructor” and describes a dream that Ellen White had about individuals wanting to change the character of God’s plan for education. Notice what God says about this subject:
“The world acknowledges as teachers some whom God cannot endorse as safe instructors” (Testimonies, Vol. 6, p. 164).
I will submit to you that God has not endorsed or sanctioned Jesuit education as a place for any Seventh-day Adventist. What evidence do we have? Take a look at what else we’ve been told:
“Should the third angel’s message be proclaimed in all lines to many who stand as educators, it would not be understood by them” (Testimonies, Vol. 6, p. 165).
Unfortunately, the Third Angel’s Message is not accepted by the Jesuit Order. They were originally founded to counter the Bible’s testing truths, such as the Third Angel’s Message, which exposes Rome’s errors. Notice the kind of educators that are endorsed and sanctioned by God to teach our people:
“Who among our teachers are awake and as faithful stewards of the grace of God are giving the trumpet a certain sound? Who are proclaiming the message of the third angel, calling the world to make ready for the great day of God?” (Testimonies, Vol. 6, p. 166).
Where are the educators that truly believe in the Third Angel’s Message and preach it? And what makes these teachers so desirable? Well, these are the instructors that have the approval of God. The Jesuit Order is, once again, absolutely disqualified. Ellen White also advises our people on how to shield our children from educational institutions that may have a “contaminating influence” on them.
“How can our youth be shielded from these contaminating influences? There must be schools established upon the principles, and controlled by the precepts, of God’s word. Another spirit must be in our schools, to animate and sanctify every branch of education” (Signs of the Times, June 22, 1882).
God approves of educational institutions that are founded on and guided by the principles of His word. Jesuit education, once again, falls outside of God’s mandate. Notice what Ellen White has to say to our “leaders” about true education and receiving God’s blessing:
“The schools of the prophets were established place after place before Elijah ascended to heaven. He went all around to view the schools of the prophets. And there the Spirit of God would come upon these students, and they would prophesy. And that was just before Elijah was translated to heaven. O we want to see the leaders, we have to see and tell the people that we must depend on an education from those that have a true sense of what is true education, that is how to secure that life which measures with the life of God, that life which procures for them the eternal life policy. It is that that we want everyone to have, eternal life by the obedience to God’s Word.” (Manuscript 118, 1909).
She instructs our church leaders to study the Schools of the Prophets, as this is where real educators received God’s true methods. Where do we find evidence of God telling Israel’s future spiritual leaders that they were free to attend either the Schools of the Prophets or the Schools of Baal? Where does God say that His future priests or prophets could study under the careful guidance of the prophets of Baal in order to be prepared for ministry?
But there is another question we need to answer when discussing Jesuit education. How do we understand the Second Angel’s Message, a message that is at the center of the Three Angels’ Messages? The Second Angel’s Message is the prime justification for the existence of the Advent movement. Do we, as a people, really believe the Second Angel that says “Babylon is fallen”? Has Babylon fallen or not? God says she is fallen, so what does that mean? Well, God gives us the answer, and it is found in Revelation 18, which is the Loud Cry/Latter Rain message that says, “Come out of her, my people.”
Do we still believe this? Or does this not apply whenever any of our pastors want to obtain Babylon’s degrees in “higher education”? Are we giving God’s message to “Come out” and are we preparing to give this call to the whole world? Or do we need to receive Babylon’s degree first? Brothers and sisters, we know that we will be denounced for our beliefs, but let that denunciation not include the charge that we are deceitful and hypocritical because God’s message to “Come out” is a command and not a suggestion. And the call is to “Come out of her,” which includes her churches, her ecumenical movement and her educational institutions.
Charles Fitch, a Millerite preacher, preached with power the following words that gave birth to the Advent Movement back in 1843:
“But I do say, if you are a Christian, come out of Babylon! If you intend to be found a Christian when Christ appears, come out of Babylon, and come out Now! Throw away that miserable medley of ridiculous spiritualizing nonsense with which multitudes have so long been making the word of God of none effect, and dare to believe the Bible. It contains the wisdom of the infinite God as it is, and needs no alterations and emendations from men, as though they could tell what God means, better than He has been able to express it in his own language.” (Charles Fitch, Millerite preacher, 1843 “Come Out of Her My People”, paragraph 19.1).
Where is the Holy Spirit who will empower and encourage our people to share and live this message? Or do we have more knowledge than God? Will we pick and choose the parts of God’s word that we want to follow? Will we, like Eve, ignore God’s warnings because we don’t see anything wrong with eating the forbidden fruit? Will we tailor God’s word to suit our needs? Notice what Charles Fitch continued to say about the need to come out:
“God never will alter His word to suit your carnal desires. He has written it, and as he has written it he will fulfill it; and if you are ashamed of it, he will be ashamed of you. Dare you believe the Bible? dare you preach it? Dare you bring out its plain testimony respecting the manner, the objects, and the time of Christ’s coming, and tell the world that it is truth, and meet the consequences? Or will you turn away with a sneer, and call it Millerism, and go on prating about a spiritual reign of Christ? I tell you, if you continue in that course you will be reckoned with Antichrist, when the glorious Son of David comes to take his throne. “Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.” (Charles Fitch, Millerite preacher, 1843 “Come Out of Her My People”, paragraph 20.2).
Obedience is the issue. Will we follow the message or will we rationalize it? The Second Angel and Revelation 18 are the last calls to this world, and they will be preached with power under the Latter Rain. What more proof do we need? What more can anyone say to convince you of the truth and of our duty? If God’s commands are not enough to guide the church, then what will we use? Fallen, uninspired men? Church councils? Church creeds? Jesuit theologians? Popes?
Either God has called a people out, or He hasn’t. This question will decide the fate of the entire movement. If God has NOT called a people out, then why are we wasting our time? Let’s all join Pope Francis’s universal fraternity and enroll our children in Jesuit education. Now, if God has called a people out, it follows that He has also given us a message to call others out as well. And we must stand alone in the power of God, always ready to give all the biblical reasons why we must be separate.
In fact, this was the entire point of the Ministry Magazine article of 1944, and the heart of the matter that is TOTALLY being ignored today. [1] This is proof that the modern church has changed from what it used to believe. This is another indication that the end is near. The closing chapters of the book, The Great Controversy, are upon us. And it is the union of the churches with Rome that allows the final conflict to begin. In this conflict, God’s people cannot be ecumenical or remain neutral. We must stand alone in God’s power and strength; then the words “Come out of her, my people” will reverberate around the world and Christ will come.

God has called a people out but some have chosen to go back into Babylon. But the church will go through.
“God has a church. It is not the great cathedral, neither is it the national establishment, neither is it the various denominations; it is the people who love God and keep His commandments. “Where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them” (Matthew 18:20). Where Christ is even among the humble few, this is Christ’s church, for the presence of the High and Holy One who inhabiteth eternity can alone constitute a church. {UL 315.5}
That is the church going through. Not the GC run church.

Aloha from the Island of Maui, SMK!
Aloha Alan, God does not have a “Church,” Jesus said that He would be the One who will build His “Ecclesia,” ( not “Church!” there is no such entity as “Church!” in the original Greek. Do the research. Do an etymological study of the terms “Ecclesia” and “Church.” They are not the same. Jesus and His disciples never used the term “Kuriokos,” which is the Greek for what we today call “Church!”
Then “you will know the truth and the truth will set you free!” The Remnant Ecclesia of Living Stones is the One and only “Body” of Christ on earth!
The Seventh Day Adventist Church religious system, is a daughter of the Its mother “Babylon,” which we are commanded to come out of! The same applies to her daughters.
Aloha, your brother in Christ,

Brother.. you are correct. We have all been educated to follow a certain path of understanding on ‘church’. Only the correct understanding will split the world. I am and have been inclined to tell all that we SDAs are to preach the 3 angels and hold up the truth as it is in Jesus. I am shying away from getting people to join the church but to come to an understanding of the truth. We, all the churches, are on the same side of the field. It is our (SDA’s) duty to tell and proclaim the truth and raise up the standard. If the world sees it , the can accept the message and follow. If not, keep on preaching.

Why are so many critical of the bride of Christ. We all fall short of the glory of God. Let us humble our hearts, let us repent of our own unfaithfulness to Christ, then Christ can work on our hearts. Lets pray for those we are concerned with, lets not be hasty to judge.
Let this be done in a prayerful and Christlike manner and in accordance with the principles of scripture.
The SDA church is the remnant church. May our hearts be right with God that we may be His remnant people.
Theresa Tacconelli says
We must stand up and hold our leaders accountable. The Remnant we are. But the Remnant is bigger than the organized corporate church. It is as Alan stated : “ God has a church. It is not the great cathedral, neither is it the national establishment, neither is it the various denominations; it is the people who love God and keep His commandments. ” This latest concern with the current quarterly needs to be addressed by our leadership!

It is obvious we are commissioned to call others out of the religion of confusion. If we don’t, we will be responsible for their eternal demise.
The closer we are to heathen teachings and traditions, the less we are able to be objective and see the forest for the trees with minute detail. When this happens, we are more prone to exonerate those heathen items all the more passionately as we try to justify doing so.

I think it is more than time for a loud cry against this practice of hiring men trained in such institution to pastor in SDA churches.I have been warning against this and the making of business men conference presidents for a very long time now, because I saw the evil.What is it that is so alluring, why SDA pastors want to enter those catholic seminaries for training?If they so love the truth,why do you want to venture into an institution where truth is mingled with erros and the traditions of men?Why do you want to be trained by men who have been trained to do the will and carry out the dictates of the papacy?Are they not aware of the Jesuit oath taken by many of the people who serve in those institutions?Does such training make them better prepared professionals? then they should go back to the catholic institutions and be employed, since such institutions have made them so much better.Don’t they want to return and give thanks to those whom have made them so much better, if that is the thinking?I challenge any SDA pastor who has been trained in any of those seminaries etc, to go and present your credentials to the appropiate catholic church authority and ask to be a priest in any catholic church.The catholic church would never accept the best qualified SDA pastor to be a priest in their church, unless he renounces his SDA beliefs and undergo their special training.Why in the name of common sense has the SDA church has been allowing this to happen in our church?It is time that the lay people know and understand, that they have a right to the vetting process of hiring men to become pastors in their churches.Since the leaders are not concern about who they are hiring,then the lay people need to stand up and stop this nonsense.Only when the lay people make their voices heard and their demands clear in those who are selected, to be the selectors of pastors for their churches, would we be able to curb the practice.There are strange fires burning in the SDA church today.The church is no longer seen,respected and treated as the bride of Christ.She is been treated the same way as common placed man made entities.The supremacy,peculiarity and uniqueness of the bride of christ is not counted or been upheld by many who are leaders.She is not valued as the bride of Christ.Would anyman who truly loves his wife tolerates her been treated disrespectfully?The church has been institutionalised and treated as the domain of man’s making.How long will Christ tolerate this been done to His bride?OH GOD FORGIVE US AND OPEN OUR EYES!
Four Angels Messages says
That night I dreamed that I was in Battle Creek looking out from the side glass at the door and saw a company marching up to the house, two and two. They looked stern and determined. I knew them well and turned to open the parlor door to receive them, but thought I would look again. The scene was changed. The company now presented the appearance of a Catholic procession. One bore in his hand a cross, another a reed. And as they approached, the one carrying a reed made a circle around the house, saying three times: “This house is proscribed. The goods must be confiscated. They have spoken against our holy order.” Terror seized me, and I ran through the house, out of the north door, and found myself in the midst of a company, some of whom I knew, but I dared not speak a word to them for fear of being betrayed. I tried to seek a retired spot where I might weep and pray without meeting eager, inquisitive eyes wherever I turned. I repeated frequently: “If I could only understand this! If they will tell me what I have said or what I have done!” {1T 577.2}
This dream appears to start out as SDA then turned Catholic kind of what is happening with our leadership. [fourangelsmessages.com]

Open my eyes, that I may see
Glimpses of truth thou hast for me;
Place in my hands the wonderful key
That shall unclasp and set me free
Silently now I wait for thee
Ready, my God, thy will to see
Open my eyes, illumine me, Spirit divine!
Open my ears, that I may hear
Voices of truth thou sendest clear;
And while the wavenotes fall on my ear
Everything false will disappear
Silently now I wait for thee
Ready, my God, thy will to see
Open my ears, illumine me, Spirit divine!
Open my mouth, and let me bear
Gladly the warm truth everywhere;
Open my heart and let me prepare
Love with thy children thus to share
Silently now I wait for thee
Ready, my God, thy will to see
Open my heart, illumine me, Spirit divine!
