Pope Leo XIV is advancing Rome’s vision by promoting both the consecration of America to the “Sacred Heart of Jesus” and full unity with the Orthodox churches. These efforts are being presented as movements for peace, healing, moral renewal, and Christian reconciliation, but they also reveal Rome’s long-standing mission to restore its religious influence on a worldwide scale. These developments are prophetically significant because Bible prophecy warns that the Papacy’s deadly wound would be healed and that it would once again exert growing influence over the political and religious powers of the world—especially in the United States.
On May 21, 2026, the Catholic Herald published the following about the Catholic consecration of America:
• “The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops will consecrate the United States of America to the Sacred Heart of Jesus on June 11 during its Spring Plenary Assembly in Orlando, Florida, as the country prepares to mark the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. The consecration, to be led by Archbishop Paul Coakley of Oklahoma City, president of the USCCB, will take place during a concelebrated Mass. Parishes and individual Catholics nationwide are being invited to prepare through 250 hours of Eucharistic Adoration, 250 works of mercy and a novena to the Sacred Heart.” [1]
On May 15, Vatican News revealed that Pope Leo is working to bring the Orthodox into full unity with Rome:
• “The ‘full unity’ of Christians is not only a distant goal but an urgent need, particularly in light of the conflicts afflicting the world and especially tearing apart the Middle East. Pope Leo XIV reaffirmed the necessity of a more vigorous ecumenical commitment in this era of wars and divisions during a phone conversation and in a letter to the Coptic Orthodox Pope of Alexandria, Tawadros II, Patriarch of the See of St. Mark, on the occasion of the Day of Coptic-Catholic Friendship.” [2]
These developments represent that prophetic movements are unfolding before our eyes and that Rome is steadily increasing its moral, spiritual, and global influence by calling the nations and churches of the world into greater unity under its leadership. The upcoming consecration of the United States to the Sacred Heart of Jesus—scheduled by the U.S. bishops for June 11, 2026, as part of America’s 250th anniversary—and the intensified ecumenical push for “full unity” with the Orthodox churches reveal a significant consolidation of religious influence. This is unfolding at the very time Bible prophecy foretold that the Papacy’s deadly wound would be healed and “all the world wondered after the beast” (Revelation 13:3).
What we are witnessing today is the gradual preparation for the final crisis foretold in Revelation 13—a deliberate movement toward religious unity and ever-closer cooperation between church and state. These developments will lead Protestant America to impose Catholic doctrines by law during the Mark of the Beast crisis. The final movements are rapidly taking shape as the world turns to Rome for solutions to its political, moral, and spiritual problems. The stage is being set for the enforcement of false worship and the loss of liberty of conscience. God’s people must remain firmly grounded in Scripture and faithful to the everlasting gospel, for the signs all around us make it unmistakably clear that earth’s closing scenes are rapidly approaching.
“God’s Word has given warning of the impending danger; let this be unheeded, and the Protestant world will learn what the purposes of Rome really are, only when it is too late to escape the snare. She is silently growing into power. Her doctrines are exerting their influence in legislative halls, in the churches, and in the hearts of men. She is piling up her lofty and massive structures, in the secret recesses of which her former persecutions will be repeated. Stealthily and unsuspectedly she is strengthening her forces to further her own ends when the time shall come for her to strike. All that she desires is vantage-ground, and this is already being given her. We shall soon see and shall feel what the purpose of the Roman element is. Whoever shall believe and obey the Word of God will thereby incur reproach and persecution” (Great Controversy, p. 581).
