In an era of global crisis and deep division, Pope Leo XIV is being presented not only as a voice for Catholics but also as a moral leader for the entire world. He has also been accorded the title of “The Pope of the Planet.” On May 31, 2026, Rolling Stone magazine wrote about Leo’s first encyclical, describing him as an authority on climate change, social unity, and the common good. The world is being conditioned to view the Papacy as the ideal choice to guide nations and the world through the current crises.
Rolling Stone Magazine published the following:
• “Pope Leo XIV called artificial intelligence a threat to humanity in his first encyclical, showing that he’s serious about taking on climate change.” [1]
• “Magnifica Humanitas is picking up where Pope Francis’ first encyclical, Laudato Si, naturally left off.” [1]
• “In Magnifica Humanitas, Pope Leo explicitly links the ecological damage from AI to that foretold by Pope Francis. He talks about the degradation of our common resources like land and water for technological consumption, the waste and pollution from technological development, and the negative impacts of rare earth mineral mining. He calls out the hypocritical slowness to adopt environmental commitments, compared to the race to develop AI.” [1]
• “For climate reparations to take root, we must steward the common good and creation in a way that centers community and shared futures … it leads me to grow, learn how to be more caring, and how to show that repair and truth are possible in an ever changing world. It is in these limitations and humanity that we find community and we can build solutions for the common good.” [1]
• “Last year, I wrote that while Pope Francis was known as ‘the people’s pope,’ I was hopeful that Pope Leo would pick up the mantle to become ‘the planet’s pope.’ A year later, it looks as though those hopes were well-placed.” [1]
Rome is being positioned to act as a unifying spiritual mediator, given that its reach transcends national borders and it exerts significant diplomatic influence over governments, religions, and international organizations. The Papacy is being increasingly elevated above its traditional role as the head of the Roman Catholic Church and now presents itself as a universal moral authority capable of guiding the modern world.
This reflects exactly what Revelation 13, 17, and 18 describe: a world wondering after a global religious system that will exercise worldwide influence over legislation, economics, morality, and even environmental policies. Prophecy warns that this will occur through a union of church and state on both national and international levels. The growing exaltation of the Papacy as a global moral guide is preparing the world to accept religious mandates that will be presented as necessary and beneficial for the peace, stability, and welfare of society.
The crisis will come when human tradition is exalted above the commandments of God and the world is ultimately pressured to embrace false worship. As the nations seek salvation through political alliances, religious unity, and by following after the beast, God is calling His people to proclaim the everlasting gospel, the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus to every nation, kindred, tongue, and people before probation closes forever.
