“Protestants will work upon the rulers of the land to make laws to restore the lost ascendancy of the man of sin … Roman Catholic principles will be taken under the care and protection of the state” (Review and Herald, June 15, 1897).
Several U.S. Catholic archbishops and bishops, including the Jesuit Bishop of Oakland, Michael C. Barber, S.J., met with President Donald Trump in the Oval Office on Oct. 22, 2026. [1] Trump’s long-time spiritual advisor Paula White Cain and White House Faith Director Jenny Korn were also in attendance. This event was significant because it was described as a “policy in action” meeting that ended with the Roman Catholic clergy praying with the President. It was also stated by Jenny Korn that the Catholic leaders, including a Jesuit, “have a seat at the table.” That table is the Oval Office, the most powerful office in the world.
Not politics. This is policy in action ending with meaningful Prayer with & for the President. He welcomes prayer in the Oval Office regularly- on & off camera. People of faith have a VOICE @potus @whitehouse Faith Office. This is not just a “photo op” These are Catholic Archbishops and Bishops who spent time talking with us about important issues on religious freedom, school choice, family tax credits, religious visas, and life. They are leaders within their communities and have a seat at the table. #Faith #Pray @USCCB @EWTN @EWTNews @IngrahamAngle @RaymondArroyo @VinceCoglianese @FoxNews @RCamposDuffy @SebGorka @SaraCarterDC @nicoleparkerusa @realtalkstruth @kilmeade @BrianBurchUSA @LaurenGreenFox @kevincorke @DavidJHarrisJr @RealAmVoice @DBrodyReports @realKenOliver

This Oval Office encounter is helping to fulfill the prophetic warning God has given us: that Roman Catholicism would continue to gain influence, Protestantism would become increasingly favorable toward Rome, and the Papacy would eventually regain its former religious and political supremacy.
“Rome is aiming to re-establish her power, to recover her lost supremacy. Let the principle once be established in the United States that the church may employ or control the power of the state; that religious observances may be enforced by secular laws; in short, that the authority of church and state is to dominate the conscience, and the triumph of Rome in this country is assured … She is silently growing into power. Her doctrines are exerting their influence in legislative halls, in the churches, and in the hearts of men. She is piling up her lofty and massive structures in the secret recesses of which her former persecutions will be repeated.” (Great Controversy, 581).
“In the movements now in progress in the United States to secure for the institutions and usages of the church the support of the state, Protestants are following in the steps of papists. Nay, more, they are opening the door for the papacy to regain in Protestant America the supremacy which she has lost in the Old World. And that which gives greater significance to this movement is the fact that the principal object contemplated is the enforcement of Sunday observance.” (Great Controversy, p. 571).
These statements connect the restoration of Papal supremacy with the actions of Protestant churches in America, especially their efforts to obtain government support for religious observances. As the movement to challenge the separation of church and state gains momentum, it paves the way for Rome to exert greater influence over civil legislation, ultimately facilitating the enforcement of Sunday laws through state power.
“The dignitaries of church and state will unite to bribe, persuade, or compel all classes to honor the Sunday. The lack of divine authority will be supplied by oppressive enactments. Political corruption is destroying love of justice and regard for truth; and even in free America, rulers and legislators, in order to secure public favor, will yield to the popular demand for a law enforcing Sunday observance” (Great Controversy, p. 592).
