What we are witnessing today is a dangerous shift in tone, as the gloves—once used to soften the blows and reduce the damage—are coming off in America’s political discourse. The climate has reached a fever pitch, marked by death, shootings, and open aggression. Christ foretold that in the last days love would grow cold (Matthew 24:12), and the current state of political conversation bears witness to this reality. The voice of the dragon is indeed being heard in our time.
On September 24, 2025, Vice President JD Vance responded to the shooting outside an ICE facility in Dallas, Texas, highlighting the ongoing surge of left-wing violence, the rise in gun-related attacks, and the growing number of assaults against law enforcement. In his remarks, the vice president declared that those who advocate or support violence can “go straight to hell,” insisting that such individuals have no place in the nation’s political discourse.
The vice president said, in part:
• “You don’t have to agree with my immigration policies. You don’t have to agree with Donald Trump’s immigration policies. But if your political rhetoric encourages violence against our law enforcement, you can go straight to hell, and you have no place in the political conversation of the United States of America!” (YouTube Video)
Leaders should condemn violence and threats of violence, using strong language about accountability and bringing those who participate in such acts to justice. However, what JD Vance is revealing with the words, “You can go straight to hell,” is that the patience of the political right has been exhausted, and he is turning up the temperature with the words that he employs. Words matter, and what we are witnessing today is the very fulfillment of what Bible prophecy warned would come.
In Revelation 13:11, the second beast, which represents the United States, is described as having “two horns like a lamb,” representing peaceful, Christ-like professions, but it eventually “speaks as a dragon.” This description is profoundly significant. The lamb-like qualities symbolize a nation that promises civility, justice, liberty, peace, and the pursuit of happiness. Yet when that same power begins to “speak as a dragon,” its voice is manifested through violence, threats, and hostility. The shift from lamb-like gentleness to dragon-like aggression is revealed not only through laws and policies, but also through the tone and language of leaders—whether on the left or the right.
Satan is the true architect of this culture of violence. Jesus called him a “murderer from the beginning” (John 8:44), and the Scriptures reveal that his goal is to incite bloodshed, fear, and hatred in societies. When men and women encourage violence—whether through direct action or reckless rhetoric—they are repeating the voice of the dragon. The devil thrives on chaos, and he stirs people to act out of anger so that the cycle of hostility deepens. The Apostle Peter warned that “your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour” (1 Peter 5:8). Satan blinds people to this reality and drives them to lash out against each other instead of praying for them and seeking God.
The result is that a nation that was once the refuge for the persecuted now finds itself sliding toward unparalleled division and conflict. As Jesus warned, “Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation” (Matthew 12:25). America is being pulled toward the brink of another civil war by a satanic strategy that thrives on hostility. What looks like a battle between political parties is in reality a spiritual contest between Christ and Satan, between the spirit of the Lamb and the voice of the dragon.
“The Spirit of God is gradually but surely being withdrawn from the earth. Plagues and judgments are already falling upon the despisers of the grace of God. The calamities by land and sea, the unsettled state of society, the alarms of war, are portentous. They forecast approaching events of the greatest magnitude. The agencies of evil are combining their forces and consolidating. They are strengthening for the last great crisis. Great changes are soon to take place in our world, and the final movements will be rapid ones” (Testimonies, Vol. 9, p. 11).
