On March 21, 2026, The Wall Street Journal published a full-page spread praising the significance and advantages of having an American pope—one uniquely positioned to understand, influence, and engage with U.S. politics at the highest levels. The article presents the Pope’s voice as not only more credible but increasingly necessary in shaping public policy—one that, according to senior Catholic officials, cannot be dismissed by American politicians. This growing alignment reflects the prophetic convergence, where the leading religious power, Rome, and the leading civil power, the United States, are being elevated as the dominant forces guiding global affairs—setting the stage for a unified influence over conscience, policy, and ultimately, worship.
The Wall Street Journal published the following:
• “The papacy has always been political. But now, some of the biggest challenges to its vision of society are coming from the U.S.—just as the 1.4 billion-strong Catholic Church is led by an American for the first time in its 2,000-year history.” [1]
• “The Midwestern pontiff brings a deeper understanding of American society and politics than any previous pope. That means his critiques can’t be dismissed by U.S. politicians as easily as a foreign pope’s would be, say senior church officials.” [1]
• “Complicating his task is the fact that millions of American Catholics voted for Trump. However, the conservative advocacy group CatholicVote, which helped to mobilize support for Trump, is now warning that ‘widespread mistrust’ among Catholics over his hard-line immigration tactics could cost the Republicans some of those gains.” [1]
• “Rarely if ever have as many Catholics filled leading positions in American public life—from Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who are seen as Trump’s two most likely Republican successors, to some of the GOP House leadership and most of the Supreme Court.” [1]
• “Still, the election of an American pope was a surprise, since many prelates—including Prevost himself—believed that the College of Cardinals wouldn’t hand the papacy to the U.S., on top of all the superpower’s other clout.” [1]• “Kevin Hayes, a retired architect and member of Resurrection Parish in suburban Pittsburgh, said he was delighted to see an American pontiff. ‘I know I have somebody who’s making statements from the Vatican who understands American culture and politics,’ he said. ‘It’s not only the pope talking to you, but it’s an American talking to you with moral authority’.” [1]
The article also highlighted some of the key differences between Pope Leo XIV and Donald Trump, particularly regarding military campaigns in Venezuela and Iran, as well as U.S. immigration policies. It demonstrated that the two most powerful forces—one political and one religious—do not always see eye to eye on major global issues. Despite these disagreements, American Catholicism has had a huge part in electing President Donald Trump and shaping his agenda. However, one thing is increasingly clear: when it comes to the question of Sunday sacredness, both the Trump administration and the Vatican are moving in the same direction.
In Revelation 13 and 14, the Roman Catholic Church—long identified as the first beast that changed God’s seventh-day Sabbath to Sunday—stands in perfect, prophetic union with Protestant America as embodied in the Trump administration. Though surface-level policy disagreements may arise over wars, economics, borders, and other matters, these are secondary; the core issue lies in the shared elevation of Sunday as a national day of rest and worship. This alignment fulfills the prophecy of the image of the beast forming in the United States, where apostate Protestant leaders lend their influence to enforce the very institution Rome has championed for centuries—the observance of Sunday as a day of rest and worship.
All the heated debates and policy battles heard around Washington and the Vatican are nothing more than political noise designed to blind minds to the one issue that truly matters in the closing hours of probation—Sunday worship. Both Rome and apostate Protestantism are drawing their followers toward this counterfeit day of rest, the mark of the beast that will soon be enforced by law. To follow either, whether through Catholic tradition or Protestant compromise, is to step onto the path that leads directly to the mark of the beast, the seven last plagues, and the lake of fire. Only those who keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus, honoring the Creator’s true Sabbath, will receive the seal of God and stand victorious when probation closes.
