“Men possessed of demons are taking the lives of men, women, and little children. Men have become infatuated with vice, and every species of evil prevails” (Testimonies, Vol. 9, p. 11).
As we observe global conditions—especially in light of the fact that we are living in the last days—this statement from the pen of inspiration is becoming more and more relevant. In the closing scenes of Earth’s history, we will witness its fulfillment. The senseless acts of violence and brutality created by human depravity will be directly influenced by demonic forces.
On July 4, 2025, a catastrophic flash flood swept through Texas, killing at least 137 people statewide. [1] Record-breaking storms dumped up to 20 inches of rain in just a few hours, causing the Guadalupe River to rise 26 feet in only 45 minutes. The sudden surge swept away homes, RV parks, and a Christian girls’ camp, where 27 young girls lost their lives. [2]
What makes this tragic event even more troubling is that a cloud-seeding company was operating in Texas, conducting weather modification by dispersing chemicals into the atmosphere just two days before the destructive rainfall began. These risky experiments, intended to alleviate droughts and stimulate precipitation, can lead to unintended consequences when the atmosphere is artificially manipulated.
On July 21, 2025, the Los Angeles Times published an article reporting that a California-based cloud-seeding company was being accused of contributing to the catastrophic flood that caused widespread destruction and loss of life. The news agency stated the following, in part:
• “A California-based cloud-seeding company called Rainmaker was accused of causing this month’s deadly Texas flood after conducting operations in the area.” [3]
• “Two days before the waters of the Guadalupe River swelled into a deadly and devastating Fourth of July flood in Kerr County, Texas, engineers with a California-based company called Rainmaker took off in an airplane about 100 miles away.” [3]
• “Their goal? To make it rain over Texas—part of a weather modification practice known as cloud seeding, which uses chemical compounds to augment water droplets inside clouds, making the drops large enough and heavy enough to fall to the ground.” [3]
• “The storm dropped as much as four inches of rain per hour over Texas Hill Country, and the river in some places rose by 26 feet in less than 45 minutes.” [3]
The Los Angeles Times article doesn’t believe the cloud-seeding company was responsible for the flooding; however, one thing is certain: the weather is, without question, being tampered with. According to the book The Great Controversy, the record-breaking floods, wildfires, earthquakes, deadly tornadoes, hurricanes, and heatwaves are not merely the result of natural forces. The escalation of extreme weather is part of Satan’s strategy for the last days.
“In accidents and calamities by sea and by land, in great conflagrations, in fierce tornadoes and terrific hail-storms, in tempests, floods, cyclones, tidal waves, and earthquakes, in every place and in a thousand forms, Satan is exercising his power. He sweeps away the ripening harvest, and famine and distress follow. He imparts to the air a deadly taint, and thousands perish by the pestilence. These visitations are to become more and more frequent and disastrous.” (Great Controversy, p. 589).
These disasters will be used to justify increased government control, restrict individual freedoms, and pave the way for the enforcement of Sunday laws. From this perspective, weather is not merely a natural phenomenon but a strategic tool in the final conflict. These calamities are to become more and more frequent and disastrous, leading to the crisis over the mark of the beast.
“It will be declared that men are offending God by the violation of the Sunday-sabbath, that this sin has brought calamities which will not cease until Sunday observance shall be strictly enforced, and that those who present the claims of the fourth commandment, thus destroying reverence for Sunday, are troublers of the people, preventing their restoration to divine favor and temporal prosperity” (Great Controversy, p. 590).
