“Why should I forgive you? Your children have forsaken Me and sworn by gods that are not gods.” Jeremiah 5:7.
This is a very solemn question that we must answer in this time of crisis. We are truly seeing a unique historical scene developing before us. On Friday, March 27, 2020 Pope Francis proclaimed a special blessing called “Urbi et Orbi” (to the City and to the World) at the Vatican. He called upon the world to “pray for an end to the Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic.” [1]
According to the Vatican, this special “Urbi et Orbi” blessing is usually reserved for solemn events and is given before tens of thousands of spectators in St. Peter’s Square. Not anymore. Pope Francis stood in the rain alone on the empty, cold Vatican grounds. In his message he talked about the “Covid-19 pandemic” and the “deafening silence” and “distressing void” that fills our streets. [1]
But the most important question that we must answer is why should God forgive us? Why should God answer our prayers? Especially when our world has been venerating false gods above our Creator (Jeremiah 5:7). Why should God deliver us from our trouble when we have been promoting pantheism and Mother Earth (nature) worship? [2]
Pope Francis has been encouraging people to venerate nature. In his apostolic exhortation called ‘Querida Amazonia’ Pope Francis teaches that nature is God. He said that God is “present in a glorious and mysterious way in the river, the trees, the fish and the wind, as the Lord who reigns in creation. [3]
If God is in nature then God is in the coronavirus, because viruses are pathogens and pathogens are part of nature. So if Pope Francis is going to praise Mother Earth (nature) then he needs to praise the coronavirus. And to pray against the coronavirus is to pray against Mother Nature.
Rome has been leading the world into a grand movement to deify nature with their Amazonian synods and their Amazonian exhortations. Now nature is fighting back. Nature has unleashed the coronavirus upon mankind. Nature is punishing our world. The killer virus (nature) has completely shut down the Vatican. And instead of asking God to remove the coronavirus, why doesn’t the Pope ask God to first forgive us for our idolatry? Why don’t we pray that God lead us out of the death-cult of nature worship – that is destroying the world with its coronavirus?
“Hath a nation changed their gods, which are yet no gods? but my people have changed their glory for that which doth not profit. Be astonished, O ye heavens, at this, and be horribly afraid, be ye very desolate, saith the Lord. For my people have committed two evils; they have forsaken me the fountain of living waters, and hewed them out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water.” Jeremiah 2:11-13.
The knowledge of God has been corrupted. The worship of the Creator has been desecrated. The word of God has been trivialized. If we are truly going to make reparations then we need to stop sinning against God’s moral law when it says:
“Thou shalt have no other gods before me.” Exodus 20:3.
This includes nature worship, eco justice, green spirituality, climate religion, radical environmentalism, Mother Earth, Gaia worship, pantheism and tree hugging. Ecology has become the new religion – a religion that cares more about the earth than for the sins of humanity. The churches are lining up to push this new green gospel.
Sin is the true cause of misery in our world. Our planet suffers because of sin and the only remedy for our world is found in the gospel of Christ. Any gospel that does not seek to save mankind is sowing confusion. Any gospel that does not seek to reconcile sinners to God is a false gospel. Many churches have long ago abandoned the faith of Jesus.
- “The earth mourneth and fadeth away, the world languisheth and fadeth away, the haughty people of the earth do languish.” Isaiah 24:4.
- “The earth also is defiled under the inhabitants thereof; because they have transgressed the laws, changed the ordinance, broken the everlasting covenant.” Isaiah 24:5.
- “Therefore hath the curse devoured the earth.” Isaiah 24:6.
- “The earth shall reel (wobble) to and fro like a drunkard, and shall be removed like a cottage; and the transgression thereof shall be heavy upon it; and it shall fall, and not rise again.” Isaiah 24:20.
