On the very same stage where students and staff at North East Adventist University in India come to worship Jehovah, conduct Weeks of Prayer, preach the gospel, and even celebrate baptisms [1], that same stage is also being used to offer honor to Baal through worldly counterfeit worship and sensual entertainment that neither glorifies nor honors God.
The North East Adventist University Church is easily recognized by the scarlet curtain that is rolled out to cover the pulpit during these worldly celebrations. Yet when pastors rise to preach the Word of God—including former General Conference President Ted Wilson [2]—the scarlet curtain is pulled back so the pulpit can once again be used for gospel preaching.
It is difficult to imagine that the video portrays two completely opposite events—one intended for the worship of God, the other reflecting the spirit of Baal—yet both use the very same church building, stage, and microphone system. One group of students sings sacred music in worship to God [3], while another group from the same student body dances to secular club-style music, imitating the entertainment and spirit of the world. [4]
The solution does not lie in endlessly justifying apostasy. There must be genuine repentance, reformation, and accountability. Leaders who persist in promoting or defending these kinds of practices that corrupt the spiritual lives of the staff and students must be removed from positions of influence and replaced with faithful men and women who will uphold biblical truth, reverence, holiness, and the sacredness of God’s house.
“And come and stand before me in this house, which is called by my name, and say, We are delivered to do all these abominations?” Jeremiah 7:10.
God rebuked His people because they were committing abominations and then coming into His house to worship on the Sabbath as though everything was fine. This warning becomes especially relevant when churches tolerate worldly entertainment, sensuality, irreverence, or practices modeled after the corrupt culture of the world while still claiming to be the children of God.
“And said unto them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves.” Matthew 21:13.
Christ cleansed the temple from worldly activities that had turned the house of God into a commercially polluted den of thieves. Whenever we adopt the methods, entertainment, music, and spirit of the world, we follow the same path as ancient Israel, which lost its spiritual discernment between the sacred and the profane.
“Bring no more vain oblations; incense is an abomination unto me; the new moons and sabbaths, the calling of assemblies, I cannot away with; it is iniquity, even the solemn meeting.” Isaiah 1:13
God declares that even solemn assemblies and Sabbath gatherings become offensive to Him when sin and compromise are cherished among His people. Church services, music programs, convocations, and religious ceremonies lose their sacred meaning when mixed with rebellion, irreverence, and worldly conformity.
The souls in our church institutions do not belong to the leadership—they belong to Christ. School administrators are accountable not only for their own actions or inactions but also for what they allow to flourish among God’s people. God is searching for men and women who will stand for truth, even when unpopular. He will use those who defend holiness and purity instead of entertainment and compromise. In this solemn hour of earth’s history, we need shepherds who fear God more than public opinion and who will prepare a people to stand faithful in the final crisis.
