Over the past few years, America has been witnessing a religious shift that many who are not students of Bible prophecy did not expect: a rapid rise in conversions to Roman Catholicism. For decades, many believed that Catholic membership in the United States was declining, and they often predicted that secularization and Protestant diversity would overshadow the influence of the Roman Catholic Church. Yet the reality unfolding before us is very different.

In 2021, statistics showed that only about 50,000 adults formally converted to the Roman Catholic Church in the U.S. This number reflected what many assumed—that Catholicism was stagnant or even in retreat. But in just a short span of time, the situation has changed dramatically. By 2025, a report from Come Home to Rome, a media ministry devoted to promoting Roman Catholicism, claims that nearly 160,000 adult converts have already joined the Catholic Church this year alone. [1] That is more than a threefold increase since 2021. This type of growth clearly tells us that America is not moving away from Rome but rather moving toward it at a much faster rate than anticipated.
But it comes as little surprise because Bible prophecy warns that in the last days, the world would wonder and follow after the beast power (Revelation 13:3), and that the influence of the Papacy would once again rise to global prominence. The fact that hundreds of thousands of Americans in the United States are converting and embracing the authority of the Pope of Rome is a clear indicator that prophecy is being fulfilled before our very eyes.
The Scriptures foretold a time when the United States would speak as a dragon and use its influence to support Rome’s agenda, particularly in connection with Sunday observance and the enforcement of false worship. The growing tide of Catholic conversions is preparing the way for Protestants to fulfill that prophetic union of church and state.
What may look like a popular movement toward unity is, in reality, a fulfillment of the warnings given in Revelation. America is becoming Catholic, not only in demographics but also in sympathy with the Papal system. As more people look to the Pope as a spiritual and moral authority, the final movements toward religious coercion and the Sunday law are drawing closer.
Seventh-day Adventists are called to lift up the everlasting gospel, proclaiming God’s final message of mercy to a world in crisis. This mission includes calling men and women out of Babylon’s confusion and deception, pointing them back to the authority of God’s Word, the keeping of His commandments, and the faith of Jesus (Revelation 14:12). At the same time, we are to sound the warning against the rising tide of Papal influence, exposing the errors of Rome that are rapidly being embraced by churches, governments, and societies. In these last days, when multitudes are being led to embrace false worship, the remnant must stand faithful, uplifting Christ and His truth, and calling all to prepare for His soon return.
Seventh-day Adventists are called to lift up the everlasting gospel, to call people out of Babylon and back to the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus (Revelation 14:12), and to warn a world that is fast embracing the errors of Rome.
“The Protestant world will learn what the purposes of Rome really are, only when it is too late to escape the snare. She is silently growing into power. Her doctrines are exerting their influence in legislative halls, in the churches, and in the hearts of men. She is piling up her lofty and massive structures, in the secret recesses of which her former persecutions will be repeated. Stealthily and unsuspectedly she is strengthening her forces to further her own ends when the time shall come for her to strike. All that she desires is vantage-ground, and this is already being given her. We shall soon see and shall feel what the purpose of the Roman element is. Whoever shall believe and obey the Word of God will thereby incur reproach and persecution.” (Great Controversy, p. 581).

Question
Could the fall and abrupt rise again in Catholic conversions possibly be related to our Heavenly Father’s love and patience for His children’s futures be His work in the world?
The exposure of the sex scandal in the Catholic Church seems to fit in well with the timing of recent history.
How sad we’ve forgotten not only ancient history but recent history as well.

Where is the great deceiver in all of this? Claiming Christ Jesus’s name doesn’t make it the Truth. The Truth is found in Gods Word.
“2 And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority.
3 And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast.

The first beast of chapter 13 is also babylon mother of harlets:
“3 So he carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness: and I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet coloured beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns.
4 And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet colour, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication:
5 And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH. 6 And I saw the woman drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus: and when I saw her, I wondered with great admiration. ” Revelation 17:3-6 KJV
“The woman (Babylon) of Revelation 17 is described as “arrayed in purple and scarlet color, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness:…and upon her forehead was a name written, Mystery, Babylon the Great, the mother of harlots.” Says the prophet: “I saw the woman drunk with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus.” Babylon is further declared to be “that great city, which reigneth over the kings of the earth.” Revelation 17:4-6, 18. The power that for so many centuries maintained despotic sway over the monarchs of Christendom is Rome. The purple and scarlet color, the gold and precious stones and pearls, vividly picture the magnificence and more than kingly pomp affected by the haughty see of Rome. And no other power could be so truly declared “drunken with the blood of the saints” as that church which has so cruelly persecuted the followers of Christ.” GC 382.2

Christians will one day be imprisoned inside Catholic cathedrals according to the Great Controversy. Terrifying until we realize that Jesus will never leave us nor forsake us.
