Claudia Marion Allen, an Adventist pastor [1] with a Jesuit education [2], recently preached at the Southwest Region Conference Camp Meeting. [3] In her message, she criticized what she described as “good Adventists” who are deeply concerned with prophecy but indifferent toward people. She mocked those who, in her words, are obsessed with watching every move of the “American Pope”—questioning whether he will align with Trump or usher in the so-called blue Sunday laws. With noticeable frustration, she exclaimed, “Who cares! Who cares!” and challenged her audience by asking, “When are we going to turn off the Daniel and Revelation seminars and start reviving the dead churches in our conferences?”
To claim that “we shouldn’t care about Bible prophecy, but only about reviving dead churches” is not only reckless—it is spiritually and theologically bankrupt. It’s like saying we should work to patch up a sinking ship without any regard for an approaching, terrifying storm—the Sunday law crisis that is coming with fury.
“A storm is coming, relentless in its fury. Are we prepared to meet it?” (8T 315).
First of all, Revelation 19:10 declares that “the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.” To neglect prophecy is to deny Jesus, who gave us the book of Revelation. To reject prophecy is to reject Christ’s final warning to a dying world. How can one expect to breathe life into a “dead church” while intentionally ignoring the divine CPR God provided through prophetic light? Bible prophecy is not optional—it is the very means God uses to awaken, warn, and guide His people in the last days.
Furthermore, history proves that genuine revivals have always been fueled by a deep understanding of the times. The Protestant Reformation was driven by prophetic study. The Advent Movement of 1844 was a prophetic revival. The early Seventh-day Adventist Church was born from the prophecies of Daniel and Revelation.
Yet today, some “pastors”—desperate for relevance—mock the very thing that gave this movement its identity. That is not leadership. That is apostasy disguised as wanting to be popular by avoiding controversy. What’s worse, when we dismiss prophecy, this is often done to mask our cowardice and unwillingness to confront uncomfortable truths. But Jesus didn’t die to make us popular—He died to make us faithful. And in a time when the world is unraveling exactly as prophecy foretold, to preach a gospel without its prophetic urgency is to offer sleeping pills to people who are dead or spiritually dying.
So yes, revival is needed—but not apart from prophecy. What we need is a revival through prophecy—a revival that calls people to repentance, awakening them to the hour of judgment, and preparing them for the soon return of Christ. Anything less is not revival. It’s a religious lullaby.
Ezekiel 37:1–14 gives us the powerful vision of the valley of dry bones—an image of spiritual death. But how are the bones revived? What brings life into them? It is the Word of the Lord and the breath (Spirit) of God. The Word—in its fullness—includes the prophetic message. If the bones are dry, it is because the people have forsaken the Word and the prophetic call.
The Laodicean church—the very church that represents us today—is described as lukewarm, blind, and self-deceived (Revelation 3:14–22). What is Christ’s remedy? Buy gold refined in the fire, white raiment, and eyesalve. That “eyesalve” is the prophetic insight to see the times clearly and discern the spiritual condition of the church. How dare we claim to want revival while rejecting the very salve that heals our blindness?
When Jesus rose from the dead, He rebuked His disciples for being slow of heart to believe all that the prophets had spoken (Luke 24:25). He then expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning Himself—which included prophecy (Luke 24:27). In fact, Luke 24:32 says their hearts burned within them—that was revival! And what triggered it? The unfolding of prophecy. So if we want burning hearts and living churches, we must preach prophecy with the convincing power of the Holy Spirit.
To say, “Who cares about Bible prophecy? Let’s just focus on reviving our dead churches” defies both reason and Revelation. It is a statement that spits in the face of the very mission and identity of the Seventh-day Adventist people, who exist precisely because of Bible prophecy.
The remnant people of Revelation 12:17 are described in Revelation 14:6-12. These are key verses that identify the final work of God as a prophetic movement in Bible prophecy. Seventh-day Adventists believe that these verses point to their unique mission in proclaiming the Three Angels’ Messages (Revelation 14:6–12) to a world in crisis, calling all to worship the Creator, the seventh-day Sabbath, and prepare for Christ’s return. To marginalize prophecy is to gut the church of its remnant identity.
How can one claim to revive a “remnant church” while simultaneously discarding the very traits that define the remnant? That is like polishing a corpse and calling it alive.
• Noah preached a prophetic warning of a coming flood—those who ignored it perished.
• Jeremiah gave prophetic calls to repent before Jerusalem was destroyed—he was mocked, and the nation fell.
• John the Baptist was a prophetic voice “preparing the way of the Lord.” His message was, “Repent!” and “the axe is laid at the root of the trees!” (Luke 3:9)
• Peter at Pentecost quotes Joel’s end-time prophecy: “Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy.” (Acts 2:17). The greatest revival in Christian history will be tied to prophetic fulfillment.
To reject prophecy is to reject God’s voice. To neglect prophecy is a form of apostasy, and this is exactly what Israel did repeatedly.
“Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers did, so do ye.” (Acts 7:51–52).
If we truly want revival, then it is imperative to preach the prophetic word with boldness! Today, those who downplay prophecy are following the same path. It’s no accident that most pastors who mock prophecy also shy away from calling sin by its right name, preaching the nearness of Christ’s return, or exposing Babylon and apostasy.
They want a revival without repentance, a church full of people without urgency, and a religion without power. And 2 Timothy 3:5 warns us of this very thing: “Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.”
Revelation is not just doom and gloom. It’s Jesus’ final call of mercy before probation closes. The Three Angels’ Message of Revelation 14 is a prophetic revival cry—a final wake-up call for the whole world. To say “who cares about prophecy” is to silence the last call of mercy God is giving to save a world on the edge of eternal ruin.
So to the Adventist pastor who says, “Forget prophecy—we just need revival,” let it be known: You are part of the reason the church is dead. You’ve traded the trumpet for a flute, the watchman’s cry for soft lullabies, and the straight testimony for cheap motivational talks.
God’s people are dying for lack of prophetic vision: “Where there is no vision, the people perish.” (Proverbs 29:18). And that vision comes through the prophetic word. You can pack your church full of warm bodies, but if you’re not preaching prophecy, you’re just organizing bones in the valley of death. What we need today is not less prophecy—but more of it. Preached with clarity, proclaimed with urgency, and lived with boldness. That is how you revive a dead church.

Highly disturbing my first thought was is she related to Ganoune Diop?
Learning that she had a Jesuit education easily explains why she is pushing an anti protestant viewpoint, will she be fired? Probably not, should she be? Absolutely.
It all makes sense why someone who claims to be SDA will preach with such sentiments.
The article addresses the issue quite “matter-of-factly.”
The protest must continue by God’s grace.
The total rejection of Prophecy through apostasy will only get worse as we get closer to the final crisis.
“Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he. ” Proverbs 29:18 KJV
Where there is no Vision – Prophecy/Spirit of Prophecy the people perish.
There are some who have adopted that religion and the church should be more on the humanitarian( according to rome’s definition) side of things; where we should ony be concerned about the poor, dying and misfortune people.
But I tell them this! The Everlasting Gospel – the Final Warning Message – the Thrid Angel’s Message covers much more than the poor, dying and misfortune, it covers all people; rich and poor, free and bond because it’s a sin issue. The sin issue is a humanitarian issue, but not just to give people back their “dignity”, it is for their enternal reward whether it is sin unto death, or obedience unto righteousness.
“Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness? ” Romans 6:16 KJV
My dear brethren, it is Christ’s Jesus who have commanded us to do this work and how to do it. He gave His life so that we can have this great and solemn opportunity. When we deny the Testimonies of Jesus, we are denying Christ Himself.
Let us obey God rather than men.
“The very last deception of Satan will be to make of none effect the testimony of the Spirit of God. “Where there is no vision, the people perish” (Proverbs 29:18). Satan will work ingeniously, in different ways and through different agencies, to unsettle the confidence of God’s remnant people in the true testimony.”—Selected Messages 1:48 (1890).
“The enemy has made his masterly efforts to unsettle the faith of our own people in the Testimonies…. This is just as Satan designed it should be, and those who have been preparing the way for the people to pay no heed to the warnings and reproofs of the Testimonies of the Spirit of God will see that a tide of errors of all kinds will spring into life.”—Selected Messages 3:83 (1890).
“It is Satan’s plan to weaken the faith of God’s people in the Testimonies. Next follows skepticism in regard to the vital points of our faith, the pillars of our position, then doubt as to the Holy Scriptures, and then the downward march to perdition. When the Testimonies, which were once believed, are doubted and given up, Satan knows the deceived ones will not stop at this; and he redoubles his efforts till he launches them into open rebellion, which becomes incurable and ends in destruction.”— LDE 177.5 – LDE 178.2
Predictably, you have made this all about Ellen White. Personally, I agree with Claudia Allen. We have been obsessed with “soon” for 180 years, but soon has never happened. And before us, others were obsessed with “soon” since the time of the disciples. But “soon” has never in 2000 years been soon, So why don’t we stop pretending we know that Jesus is coming “soon.” Instead, let’s say this.
Jesus is coming again. We don’t know when. It may be tomorrow or it may be in another 1,000 years. We just don’t know. So in the meantime, let’s focus on building the kingdom of heaven right here, as Jesus suggested over and over. Let us be the most loving people on the planet, while we let those three angels fend for themselves. They are competent.
Ed, please take a moment to read your words again. Do you not see that you are speaking in contradiction to God? I beg you to reconsider the hill you’ve decided to defend – for it is within the territory of the enemy of Christ.
“Predictably, you have made this all about Ellen White.” Your words and tone demonstrate your disdain for the Spirit of Prophecy, even though Mg only used a couple of EGW quotes at the end of a biblically based exhortation. This is the very thing that was prophesied would take place at the close of time by those Seventh-day Adventists that reject the truth – as aptly quoted in Mg’s post. The rejection of God’s prophets is what we find the nominal people of God doing to His appointed messengers throughout biblical history. How could it be that anyone would willfully choose such a position again, when we have so many examples opened before us showing that this is the path leading to destruction?
Your next statements, in summary, declare that because Christ’s coming has delayed (only from our human perspective), then we shouldn’t consider his coming and his instructions to prepare for his coming and to help prepare others for his coming as the matter of the utmost importance.
Matthew 24:44-51 Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh. (45) Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season? (46) Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing. (47) Verily I say unto you, That he shall make him ruler over all his goods. (48) But and if that evil servant shall say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming; (49) And shall begin to smite his fellowservants, and to eat and drink with the drunken; (50) The lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looketh not for him, and in an hour that he is not aware of, (51) And shall cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
Ed, can you not see that you are declaring “My lord delayeth his coming”? Can you not see that you are smiting your fellowservants (Mg) and declaring that you eat and drink with the drunken (“I agree with Claudia Allen”)? Isn’t it clear that the position you have espoused is in contradiction to Christ’s explicit instruction? Please notice that the wicked servant from Christ’s example did not declare “My master is never coming back.” No. He simply said, my master DELAYS his coming. The wicked servant saw that there was a delay, so he reasons that his master might not come back for 1000 years and thus begins to do the wickedness already described. Notice that the entire example from the lips of Christ was based on the fact that the master is returning and thus there is a needful preparation for that return. This knowledge put into practice and shared with others is what is referred to as meat in due season. Please judge for yourself… if anyone declares that it isn’t necessary to prepare for the eminent return of the master, but instead to focus on social issues, which only by the slight of hand of men is described as the setting up of the kingdom of heaven upon the earth, are we being loving? Isn’t it a contradiction to the explicit instruction of Christ and the opposite of love? Of course it is. To contradict Christ is the work of Satan. He is not driven by love, but by hate. Thus, it is a work of hate to take the focus of people away from Christ’s return and his heavenly kingdom in favor of earthly constructs.
You declare that instead of looking for Christs return, we should “focus on building the kingdom of heaven right here, as Jesus suggested over and over.” I’m curious if you can supply even one scripture where Christs instructs us to build the kingdom of heaven on earth at the expense of anticipating, awaiting, and preparing for his soon return. You will not be able to do so. It is a misdirection and dishonest (thus a lie) to say that since Christ said to do good unto others, and to love your neighbor as yourself, that this translates to deemphasizing his return and to ignore the study of prophetic fulfillment. Christ always directed the attention to the fulfillment of the prophecies, obedience to the law AND to love one another. Never did he direct us to simply build the kingdom of heaven on earth alone.
“Let the three angels fend for themselves.” God will not use three literal angels from heaven to complete the work upon the earth, but rather consecrated men and women. We should know and understand this most basic truth as Seventh-day Adventists, for this is the commission that we were supposed fulfill. While it is true that God will send his angels to impress upon the mind of human beings what they must say and when it must be said, the three angels are only a representation of the work that will be completed by human instrumentalities in the giving of the final warning to the earth. I won’t say that it was necessarily your intention, but your statement drips with disdain for the work of warning the earth of Christ’s soon return, which is the essence of the three angels’ messages. I pray that you will be willing to consider that you are not aligning yourself with Christ, but rather with anti-christ in declaring what you did.
There is no passing of judgment against you in what I have said. Only a call to reflect, reconsider, repent and reform, for Christ died for you every bit as much as he died for me. Even now He awaits for us to be transformed into good and faithful servants. But make no mistake, the time will come when he will wait no longer, and in that day He will return. Our decision now must be if He will find us patiently and expectantly waiting for him (which also means helping others to be ready for him) or eating and drinking with drunken. To the former, his coming will not be a surprise, for they will have studied the prophecies and will know that it is near, even at the door. For the latter, his coming will be like a thief in the night.
This is not about sister White, its about the Vision – the Spirit of Prophecy which Christ have given to her to give to us, to warn us of those like yourself, who will seek to trample upon the Testimonies of Jesus Revelation 19:10.
The only predictable thing is that you deflect from the Scriptures I have posted as well. So let me show you what the scriptures say. Lets see if you deflect from this too:
“2 That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour:
3 Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,
4 And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.
5 For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water:
6 Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished:
7 But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.
8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. ”
2 Peter 3:2-10 KJV
Also, we dont know the exact day or the hour, however we can know when it is near even at the door by the signs and current events.
“30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
31 And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.
32 Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh:
33 So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors.
36 But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only. ” Matthew 24:30-33, 36 KJV
I recently had a discussion with an individual who is done with the SDA corporate church. He’s done because he doesn’t find a sense of community, belonging and safe harbor. He also is very frustrated with the “deadness” otr “lack of joy” found in the church. At the same time, he’s quite conservative and wants to study prophecy, to discuss the questions that are hard to answer. He’s 60 years old and been an SDA half of his life. It seems we go either one direction or another. Either we are the conservatives who push present truth and study to understand all the prophetic messages thinking we can prophesy people into church or we are the liberal celebrationists focused on outreach and in reach, loving people into the church without regard to truly understanding present truth. I say we stop this nonsense and try to marry these two camps together. Perhaps of there was a little celebration in the present truthers and more present truth in the celbrationists we not be having these issues.
Problem is, many don’t think present truth is present truth, but rather old truth which never changes, never is examined. Real present thinking would not be bounded by whatever the church thought in 1915 when Ellen White died.
So, what are the updates since 1915? I don’t think the Bible has been updated since 1915.
This “pastor” will be caring about the pope & Sunday laws soon enough. And why do some pastors think yelling & screaming will help get their message across; for some of us it is very off-putting.
Women should not be pastors in the first place. Bible says so!
That’s funny!
I see her point.
She’s attempting to call out those who are so focused on end times that are actually forgetting to love and serve their neighbors. This is not a “message for all” but a message to keep our priorities in the right order.
– Love God and love others: Jesus said the greatest commandments are to “love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, and mind” and “love your neighbor as yourself” (Matthew 22:37–39).
– Obey His commandments: Deuteronomy 10:12–13 calls for reverence, love, service, and obedience to God’s laws.
– Live by faith: Hebrews 11:6 says that without faith, it’s impossible to please God.
– Pursue holiness: Both Old and New Testaments emphasize being holy, because God is holy (Leviticus 19:2; 1 Peter 1:15–16).
– Repent and forgive: Acts 3:19 urges repentance, and Jesus teaches that forgiving others is essential to receiving forgiveness (Matthew 6:14–15).
