In recent times, major media outlets have begun doing the bidding of Rome by shifting attention away from the true biblical Sabbath to the man-made substitute and false day of worship. A recent article published by MSN News on October 13, 2025, titled “Is Sunday God’s True Sabbath?” boldly asserts that Christians are free to choose their own day of rest and that the early church, under Peter’s authority, changed the Sabbath from Saturday to Sunday. The article also attacks Seventh-day Sabbath keepers for claiming that the Pope changed the day of worship without divine authority. Such claims not only misrepresent Scripture but also perpetuate one of the most enduring deceptions in Christian history. From Genesis to Revelation, the Bible consistently identifies the seventh day—not the first—as the true Sabbath of the Lord.
MSN News published the following claims on October 13, 2025:
• “In the grand scheme of worker exploitation and the unrelenting pursuit of profit, is it not right for there to be a dedicated day of rest? If the answer is yes, then who determines that day, and does there have to be universal agreement for it to be viable?” [1]
The question of rest is not about whether there should be a day, but which day God Himself sanctified. Genesis 2:1–3 and Hebrews 4:4 clearly state that God rested on the seventh day, blessed it, and sanctified it—long before sin, Israel, or any human institution existed. The Sabbath is therefore a divine commandment that reminds us that God is our Creator. Exodus 20:8–11 affirms this truth, pointing back to creation as the reason for keeping the seventh day holy. The Bible never authorizes any transfer that blesses or sanctifies the first day of the week.
• “Are believers free to choose the day they want to set aside for worship? The Apostles seemed to worship on two days. They worshipped on Saturdays because they were Jews, as did Jesus, and the Old Covenant was existing, and they, after the crucifixion, worshipped also on Sundays under the New Covenant, the first day of the week.” [1]
This interpretation is a distortion of New Testament history. The apostles never sanctified Sunday or declared it the “new Sabbath.” Scripture records 84 Sabbath meetings in the Book of Acts.
3 Sabbaths: Acts 13:14, 42, 44; Acts 16:13
3 more Sabbaths: Acts 17:2-4
78 Sabbaths (18 months): Acts 18:4, 11
Total: 3+3+78=84
Jesus Himself, after His resurrection, told His disciples, “Pray that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the Sabbath day” (Matthew 24:20)—proving the Sabbath would still be sacred decades later during the destruction of Jerusalem and even in the last days before the second coming of Christ.
• “The Sabbath was given to Israel only for its day of worship, not to any other people. The first day of the week is the day the Apostles and the early church chose to meet on and it is the day that Christ rose from the dead and so worshipping on the first day each week is an everlasting memorial of the resurrection.” [1]
This claim directly contradicts Jesus’ words in Mark 2:27: “The Sabbath was made for man”—not for Jews only. God instituted the Sabbath at creation, when only Adam and Eve existed, long before the existence of Israel. Exodus 20 calls it a memorial of creation. Nowhere does the Bible say the resurrection transfers holiness to another day. The Lord gave baptism as the memorial of His resurrection (Romans 6:3–5), not Sunday worship. To call Sunday an “everlasting memorial” is to replace God’s divine institution with the mark of Papal apostasy.
• “Saturday worshippers are quick to point out that man, the Pope, changed the Sabbath from Saturday to Sunday, and is not Sunday named after a false god. This argument is meant to derogate (insult) the first day of the week but it signally fails to do so.” [1]
It is a historical fact, not conjecture, that the Roman Church replaced the seventh-day Sabbath with Sunday keeping. The Convert’s Catechism of Catholic Doctrine admits, “We observe Sunday instead of Saturday because the Catholic Church transferred the solemnity from Saturday to Sunday” (Peter Geiermann, C.S.S.R., The Convert’s Catechism of Catholic Doctrine, 1957, p. 50). No biblical text authorizes that change. To deny this is to reject Bible truth and history. The name “Sunday,” derived from pagan sun worship, reflects its origin in human authority (see Ezekiel 8:16-17).
• “However it must be understood that when the church was united, Jesus gave its leader Peter, and hence the early church, some awesome powers, among them the power to make sweeping and profound changes on earth.” [1]
This is a dangerous misuse of Matthew 16:19. Jesus did not give Peter—or any human authority—the power to change God’s moral law. The “binding and loosing” refers to matters of church discipline (Matthew 18:17-18), not to altering divine law. God’s law is eternal (Psalm 111:7–8). Even Christ declared, “Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law” (Matthew 5:18). To claim the Church can “change” the Sabbath is to contradict Jesus Himself.
• “Jesus replied, ‘Blessed are you Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by man, but by my Father in heaven. And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell will not overcome it. I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven’ (Matthew 16:17–19).” [1]
This authority wasn’t just given to Peter. It was also given to the rest of the apostles and to the church as a whole (see John 20:19-23 and Matthew 18:17-18).
• “It can be argued that The Church, acting under authority of this scripture, and the dictates of The Holy Spirit can so decide which day Christians regard as their Sabbath. Since no Sabbath was prescribed for Christians then The Church has every right to make such a prescription for its members.” [1]
The Holy Spirit never leads anyone to contradict the Word of God. John 16:13 says the Spirit “will guide you into all truth,” not away from it. The New Testament never gives the Church authority to redefine the Sabbath. When religious leaders elevate tradition above Scripture, they repeat the sin of the Pharisees whom Christ rebuked: “In vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men” (Matthew 15:9). The Church’s “right to prescribe” a new day of worship is blasphemy—the very claims of the beast power in Revelation 13, which seeks to “speak great words against the most High” and “change times and laws” (Daniel 7:25).
The MSN article is reinterpreting Scripture and history to defend Sunday as the day of rest and worship, a man-made institution. The Sabbath is not Jewish or optional—it is God’s own sign of creation (Exodus 20:8-11) and sanctification (Ezekiel 20:12, 20). Sunday observance rests on human tradition and will become the mark of the beast when enforced by law. In the final conflict between Christ and Antichrist, those who “keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus” (Revelation 14:12) will be sealed with the seal of the living God, which is the unchanging truth that the seventh day, blessed and sanctified by God Himself, remains the only true biblical Sabbath.

Amen. The battle is intensifying…those who by the Holy Spirit live and follow Bible truth will be persecuted.
God has never given mankind nor any other creature divine authoritative power to change times and laws – God’s Holy Moral Law. However God prophesied through Daniel that a religious and civil kingdom/nation will blaspheme God, – claiming to be God on earth:
“And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time. ”
Daniel 7:25 KJV
Yes, God does not force worship or love; God has given man the liberty of choice, whether to love, obey, or worship God or not.
But to tell Christians that they can rest on any day they want is to teach people to make void God’s Holy Law, and it’s pure confusion.
Those who proclaim to be Christian or who call themselves Christian do so because they follow Christ:
Christian – one that is of or relating to, of or belonging to, Christ.
You are telling them not to follow Christ, and if so, then they are no longer Christians. Why?
Because Christ Jesus said this:
“For the Son of man is Lord even of the sabbath day. ”
Matthew 12:8 KJV
Only Christ Jesus could make such claims, because Hr is God:
“1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2 The same was in the beginning with God.
3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. ”
John 1:1-3 KJV
Satan hates God and His Holy Law. He does not want anyone to follow Christ Jesus.
In the booklet called ”Rome’s challenge” the Roman Catholic church acknowledges that the Sunday sabbath is the creation of her own authority and that the Protestants have no iota of evidence to prove that Sunday the first day of the week is the sabbath. It continues to say that the Adventists are the body of Christians who have the bible as their teacher who can find no pages that warrants the sanctification of sunday as the biblical sabbath. Hence their appelation is seventh day Adventists. The protestants have no any claim to justify Sunday as the sabbath because it’s catholic institution.
The sabbath was instituted since creation of the world and therefore it’s not a human institution and does not belong to Jews. The Jews came after 2,000 years because Abraham is the father of Jewish race. The Jews rested the sabbath for almost 3,000+years,but they rested in accordance to the commandments God gave to Moses in mt.sinai. The Jews believe in the authority of the old testament while the Adventists believe in the old and New testament. The Jews and the Seventh day Adventists are following the bible as the fourth commandments says.
The protestants since their imception in the 16 th century have been following the Catholicchurch command, and therefore they have no word for self defense. They should follow bible astheir teacher and return to observe the biblical sabbath (saturday) but they still cling to their mother church. Thereforethe reformation battle was lost and won by the Catholic church. Instead of prescribing to the sola scriptura (The bible and bible alone) they are following the roman traditions. In the final days of earth’s last great conflict will be about worship? And there will be two classes of people in the world (the sabbath and sunday keepers). That’s why in the book of (Revelation 12:17) Says ; And the dragon was wroth with the woman , and went to make war with the remnant of her seed which keeps the commandments of God and the testimony of Jesus Christ”.
