Below is our interview with Jeremy Serrato from Advent Age Mission, discussing the upcoming Reformation Day Camp Meeting scheduled for October 31 to November 2, 2025, in Haleyville, Alabama. In this interview, Jeremy shares the vision, purpose, and spiritual goals behind the event, highlighting how this special weekend aims to inspire revival, deepen faith, and renew commitment to the principles of the Reformation in today’s world.
Advent Messenger: Brother Jeremy Serrato, you always hold a Reformation Camp Meeting on the weekend closest to October 31. Why is that date important to you, and what does it symbolize for your ministry?
Jeremy Serrato: We hold the Reformation Camp Meeting near October 31 because that is the date Martin Luther famously nailed his 95 Theses to the church door in 1517, sparking the Protestant Reformation. That act was a protest against error, superstition, and abuse in the Church, calling people back to Scripture and the gospel.
Today, October 31 still carries spiritual significance. While the world celebrates fear, darkness, and death through Halloween, we see it as a battlefield for truth. By meeting at this time, we continue the Reformation spirit—turning away from ritual, fear, and pagan influences, and standing for Scripture, Christ, and liberty of conscience. For many in the church, October 31 feels confusing, and we provide a biblically grounded, family-friendly alternative that honors God and teaches His truth.
Advent Messenger: By choosing this particular time of year, what message or spiritual emphasis do you hope to impress on those who attend?
Jeremy Serrato: This weekend is about preparing God’s people to stand firmly in a world where religious liberty is being steadily eroded. Today, many experience mandates, censorship, and pressure to compromise conscience—whether in vaccination requirements, restrictions on worship, or other reasons. The Reformation reminds us that standing for truth and liberty isn’t optional; it’s essential. Just as the Reformers risked everything to return the Church to Scripture, we too must be ready to defend God’s Word and the freedoms He grants us.
At the same time, we provide families and children a safe, meaningful alternative to the fear, superstition, and darkness that dominate October 31. By exposing the hidden pagan and ritualistic roots of Halloween and offering fun and safe activities like campfire gatherings, hayrides, and songs, we show that standing for truth can be engaging, joyful, and life-giving.
In short, the weekend impresses three core truths: darkness and fear are real, religious liberty is under threat, and the Reformation is not just history—it’s a call to act today. It equips both adults and children to stand boldly in truth, embrace Scripture, and experience faith full of conviction, purpose, and hope.
