A recent October 19, 2025, MSN News article written by John Harnish, titled “Feeling Overwhelmed by the News? Try a Sabbath Reset,” illustrates how the modern media is preparing society to embrace Sunday as the Sabbath by presenting this day as the moral, emotional, and even spiritual remedy for modern life. Under the language of renewal and balance, the MSN article replaces the biblical Sabbath, the seventh day established by God, with the first day, Sunday, the man-made substitute.
The article states:
• “Genesis 1 says God after working for six days to create all that exists, on the seventh day God rested.” [1]
• “After six days he took a break and blessed the seventh day calling it “Sabbath.” [1]
• “The Jewish faith and the Seventh Day Adventist Church still set aside the seventh day, Saturday, as Sabbath.” [1]
• “For Christians, Jesus’ resurrection on the first day of the week took precedence, so worship shifted to Sunday, but the concept is still the same. Work like crazy the rest of the week, but give yourself a day of rest, a day to restore, refresh and renew your relationship with yourself, your friends and your God.” [1]
• “Yes, we live in a dark and dangerous time. Yes, the news can be overwhelming. Yes, the demands of life can consume every waking moment. But the answer is not a total news blackout or turning a deaf ear to the needs of the world.” [1]
• “The answer is “Sabbath” — setting aside time to recharge, refresh and revive our souls, then to return to the challenges of the day with renewed courage and strength.” [1]
• “Maybe it means turning off the TV or your cell phone for a day. Maybe it means a 24-hour news blackout or limiting your intake of cable news.” [1]
• “Maybe it means simply allowing yourself to do nothing and not feel guilty about it. Maybe it means time for corporate worship in a community of fellow believers.” [1]
• “Whatever form it takes, Sabbath may be just what we need in order to deal with the demands of life in our troubled world.” [1]
The news media is on the misguided mission of advancing the claims made by the Roman Catholic Church regarding the change of the Sabbath from Saturday to Sunday. In a few sentences, the author dismisses the divine institution of the seventh-day Sabbath as a Jewish and an Adventist custom while elevating Sunday as the day of worship for Christians.
Modern media, including mainstream outlets like MSN News, is pushing the narrative that links Sunday with peace, health, family, unity, and worship, while portraying the seventh-day Sabbath as outdated, unpopular, and reserved for small minority groups. This deliberate messaging is helping to create the public sentiment that Sunday observance should be the moral choice for rest and worship.
The MSN article “Feeling Overwhelmed by the News? Try a Sabbath Reset” provides a perfect example of the work to revive Sunday. It paints Sunday as a day of healing and social harmony, suggesting that rest on the first day of the week is the cure for the world’s stress, anxiety, and moral exhaustion. By encouraging readers to take a break from the chaos of life, “turn off the TV or your cell phone,” enjoy a “24-hour news blackout,” and engage in “corporate worship in a community of fellow believers,” the article presents Sunday rest as a complete restorative experience—combining physical rest, mental renewal, and spiritual reconnection.
While the world unites around the counterfeit Sabbath, God’s faithful remnant must continue to honor the seventh day as the Creator’s memorial of His power and authority. The observance of the seventh-day Sabbath at a time when Sunday is being exalted as the day of rest will testify that allegiance to God cannot be bought by social acceptance or political pressure. The Sabbath commandment is a sign of loyalty to the Creator, who both made and redeemed the human race. To keep it holy is to recognize His sovereignty over all the earth and to proclaim that it is the work of His divine power, not man’s invention.

It’s not about if your profession is SDA, Jew, or Christian outwardly, but one inwardly.
There were no Jews, SDA, or Christian at Creation when God ended His work on the 7th Day and rested/paused from His work on the 7th Day. God created man – Adam & Eve, and they kept God’s Holy Law and His 7th Day Sabbath:
“1 Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them.
2 And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.
3 And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made. ”
Genesis 2:1-3 KJV
“28 For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision, which is outward in the flesh:
29 But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God. ”
Romans 2:28-29 KJV
Anyone can join to God, but they are joined by keeping His Holy Law / Commandments:
“1 Thus saith the LORD, Keep ye judgment, and do justice: for my salvation is near to come, and my righteousness to be revealed.
2 Blessed is the man that doeth this, and the son of man that layeth hold on it; that keepeth the sabbath from polluting it, and keepeth his hand from doing any evil.
3 Neither let the son of the stranger, that hath joined himself to the LORD, speak, saying, The LORD hath utterly separated me from his people: neither let the eunuch say, Behold, I am a dry tree.
4 For thus saith the LORD unto the eunuchs that keep my sabbaths, and choose the things that please me, and take hold of my covenant;
5 Even unto them will I give in mine house and within my walls a place and a name better than of sons and of daughters: I will give them an everlasting name, that shall not be cut off.
6 Also the sons of the stranger, that join themselves to the LORD, to serve him, and to love the name of the LORD, to be his servants, every one that keepeth the sabbath from polluting it, and taketh hold of my covenant;
7 Even them will I bring to my holy mountain, and make them joyful in my house of prayer: their burnt offerings and their sacrifices shall be accepted upon mine altar; for mine house shall be called an house of prayer for all people.
8 The Lord GOD which gathereth the outcasts of Israel saith, Yet will I gather others to him, beside those that are gathered unto him. ”
Isaiah 56:1-8 KJV
For the Sabbath was made for man/mankind because everything God created or instituted was for mankind including the Sabbath:
“And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath: ”
Mark 2:27 KJV
“For Christians, Jesus’ resurrection on the first day of the week took precedence, so worship shifted to Sunday, but the concept is still the same. Work like crazy the rest of the week, but give yourself a day of rest, a day to restore, refresh and renew your relationship with yourself, your friends and your God.”
Using the Word of God to create your own doctrine is exactly what Christ warns us of:
“But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. ” Matthew 15:9 KJV
“If ye love me, keep my commandments. ”
John 14:15 KJV
God’s Word is very pure, and they are preserved for ever:
“140 Thy word is very pure: therefore thy servant loveth it.
142 Thy righteousness is an everlasting righteousness, and thy law is the truth. ”
Psalms 119:140, 142 KJV
“6 The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.
7 Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.
8 The wicked walk on every side, when the vilest men are exalted. ”
Psalms 12:6-8 KJV
We warned not to add to nor take away from God’s Word:
“5 Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.
6 Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar. ” Proverbs 30:5-6 KJV
“Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you. ”
Deuteronomy 4:2 KJV
Sabbath is God ‘s institution, and was ordained by himself, after the six days of creation. Man was created on the sixth day and after that he rested ,sanctified, blessed the sabbath day. Remember the world was created on 4004 B.C.and the ten commandments decalogue was given in the 2514 B.C. Moses was given the commandments to give to the israelites and the Jews were the custodians of the sabbath for 1490 years. In the booklet called ”Rome’s challenge ” ,the Catholic Church castigates the protestants for observing a day that is commandment of the Catholic church. The booklet goes ahead and says Adventists are the only body of Christians, who have the bible as their teacher, who can find no warrant in its pages sanctifying the first day of the week as the sacred day of rest. Hence their appellation is the Seventh Day Adventists. This booklet was written in 1893. Here in this subject we are not talking about the numerical figures ,but concerning about the matter of truth. The Seventh Day Adventists are numerically few but the keep the fourth Commandment of the decalogue.
The Israelites and the Seventh Day Adventists have selected the sabbath of saturday weekly decalogue. Whereas the Biblical protestants have kept the the first day of the week. The Jews kept the sabbath(saturday) of fourth commandment for 3,383 years. They also believe in the old testament books of Torah. But the Adventists believe in the authority of old and ‘visavis, the new. It was punishable by law to profane the sabbath if you broke the fourth commandent. He that will be found working on the sabbath day was stoned to death.(Exodus31:15)
Even Jesus Christ himself observed the same day ,(saturday) sabbath. He went to the synagogue on the sabbath day, and he stood on the synagogue and read in the book of Esaiah. Even his apostles kept the same day, and Paul himself went to preach to the Gentile coverts. So this sabbath observance continued upto the first centuries. The sabbath was finally abandoned in the fourth century ,and until the time the Papacy firmly established itself in the year 538 A.D. And also there were also other christians who observed the holy sabbath in the wilderness until the period of dark ages came to an end.
