“By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins: But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God; From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool. For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.” Hebrews 10:11-14.
The Word of God is very clear concerning Christ’s sacrifice on our behalf. He offered Himself once for sin—never to be repeated again and again. Few teachings directly challenge Christ’s death on the cross as much as Rome’s claim that the Mass is a continuation of His sacrifice on Calvary. The Eucharistic Host is also venerated as Jesus Christ Himself.
Scripture, however, teaches that Christ’s death was offered once for all and was perfect, complete, and final. It also teaches that Christ ministers for us in heaven and does not become the literal wafer used in the Mass. This ceremony, along with Sunday worship, is unbiblical, dishonors Christ, and undermines the work He did for us on Calvary.

On Sunday June 7, 2026, Catholic news correspondents in the Vatican reported the following:
“• Madrid witnessed something extraordinary today: Pope Leo XIV carrying our Eucharistic Lord through its streets on the Solemnity of Corpus Christi. As thousands followed in prayer and adoration, the scene reflected the beauty of this ancient feast.” [1]
• “But Madrid was not alone. Across the world, Catholics gathered to carry Jesus in the Eucharist through their streets, publicly proclaiming their faith in His Real Presence.” [1]
• “Corpus Christi is more than a tradition—it is living faith made visible. Wherever the Eucharistic Lord was carried in procession today, in Madrid, throughout Spain, throughout the world, there beat the heart of the Church.” [1]
The Word of God is unmistakably clear: Christ’s death on the cross will never be repeated. Notice the blasphemous claims of the Mass from two Catholic sources:
• “The priest brings Christ down from heaven, and renders Him present on our altar as the eternal Victim for the sins of man—not once, but a thousand times! The priest speaks, and lo! Christ, the eternal and omnipotent God, bows His head in humble obedience to the priest’s command” (The Faith of Millions, pp. 255, 256, Rev. John A. O’Brien).
• “Thus the priest may, in a certain manner, be called the creator of his Creator, since by saying the words of consecration he creates, as it were, Jesus in the sacrament, by giving him a sacramental existence and produces him as a victim to be offered to the eternal Father” (Dignity and Duties, pp. 32–33, by St. Alphonsus Liguori, a Catholic saint, bishop, and theologian).
These claims by the Catholic Church were once used by Protestants to identify the Papacy with the power of the Antichrist described in prophecy. The doctrine of the Mass is foreign to the teachings of the gospel and represents a departure from the biblical understanding of salvation, atonement, and forgiveness.
One of the most dangerous developments in modern Christianity is that many Protestant churches have largely abandoned the principles of the Reformation. Today, Protestantism has embraced ecumenical cooperation and interfaith unity with Rome. As a result, teachings once fervently proclaimed to expose Rome’s errors are no longer being declared. This new position is inconsistent with the Reformation’s commitment to upholding Scripture as the supreme authority in matters of faith and practice.
“Protestants have tampered with and patronized popery; they have made compromises and concessions which papists themselves are surprised to see, and fail to understand. Men are closing their eyes to the real character of Romanism, and the dangers to be apprehended from her supremacy. The people need to be aroused to resist the advances of this most dangerous foe to civil and religious liberty” (Great Controversy, p. 566).
