On May 19, 2025, Republican members of Congress signed a petition urging House Speaker Mike Johnson to extend a formal invitation to the first American Pope to address a joint session of Congress in Washington, D.C. The petition frames the invitation as a “valuable” opportunity for Congress to seek “spiritual and moral guidance” from the Holy See. Republican lawmakers assert that having the Pope speak before both chambers would be “a great benefit to Congress and the American people.”
Sadly, many will view this merely as a gesture of unity and respect for the so-called moral leadership of the papacy, but the Word of God reveals it as a sign of deeper prophetic significance. According to Revelation 13, such an event marks a critical step toward the fulfillment of prophecy in which the United States—symbolized as a Protestant nation—forms an alliance with the papal power. This alliance is seen as laying the foundation for the federal government to gradually embed Roman Catholic doctrines and moral values into American law, ultimately leading to the enforcement of religious mandates, such as Sunday observance. This convergence of church and state is viewed as a direct precursor to the global enforcement of the “mark of the beast”—a final crisis in which freedom of conscience and civil liberty will be replaced by religious tyranny on a worldwide scale.

The letter asking Mike Johnson to invite the Pope reads as follows:
• “Dear Mr. Speaker, We respectfully ask you to consider inviting the newly-elected Pope, His Holiness Pope Leo XIV, to address Joint Session of Congress. We as Catholic celebrate the first-ever American pope and hope you will consider an invitation to him. It would be valuable for Congress to hear His Holiness’s vision for the role of Catholic faith in the world and how he plans to lead the over 1.4 billion Catholics worldwide and the many others who look to the Holy See for spiritual and moral guidance.” [1]

Before his election, Leo XIV spent nearly half a century serving the church in various roles at home and abroad. For the Pope of Rome to address a joint session of Congress is deeply significant and concerning. Revelation 13 describes the United States as initially upholding principles of civil and religious liberty (“two horns like a lamb”) but eventually speaking “as a dragon” (Revelation 13:11). This change represents a departure from our founding values of “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.” The concern of inviting the Pope—a global religious figure and head of a religious-political system long associated in Protestant eschatology with the first beast—is that the U.S. is symbolically aligning itself with papal authority. This move is viewed as a step toward fulfilling Revelation 13:12, which says the second beast, or the US, would “exercise all the power of the first beast,” Rome, by compelling global worship.
Such an event would only pave the way in which U.S. lawmakers would increasingly pass laws to reflect Roman Catholic doctrinal positions. This alignment is believed to prepare the way for the enforcement of a global religious observance—most notably Sunday sacredness—better known as the “mark of the beast” (Revelation 13:16-17). This call being made to invite the Pope to give his vision about the world to our US lawmakers is not only a political gesture, but as a prophetic milestone in the fulfillment of end-time events.
“The dignitaries of church and state will unite to bribe, persuade, or compel all classes to honor the Sunday. The lack of divine authority will be supplied by oppressive enactments. Political corruption is destroying love of justice and regard for truth; and even in free America, rulers and legislators, in order to secure public favor, will yield to the popular demand for a law enforcing Sunday observance” (Great Controversy, p. 592).

I am VERY much opposed to asking this man to come and speak . It is against the Separation of Church and State. This was implemented to protect against any religious power taking away our religious freedom. I am also appalled at calling this man “his holiness”. Jesus Himself said that no one is Holy except God, and he certainly isn’t God. He should not be asked to address the joint session of congress. His opinions do not represent the millions of those representing other faiths, and should not be considered.

The invitation of Roman pontiff Pope Leo XIV to address the U.S congress, is a clear pointer to all the students of bible prophecy;that something big is coming and this is the beggining, there is a calm before the storm?” The messenger of the Lord Mrs . Ellen .G.White predicted that the Roman Catholic principals shall be held and controlled by the states. When U.S.House speaker, Mike Johnson makes such kind of invitation for Pope Leo XIV,to address the joint session of congress ,it’s a precursor of the enforcement of the National Sunday law in the United States ,which will later turn out to be universal sunday law. This action is a clear departure from the United States Constitution which prohibits congress from making laws that establish the religion. The Pilgrim Fathers who founded the United States fled from old world in Europe to escape religious persecution from the Roman Church during the ”dark ages ” period of 1,260 years they sought to establish a country free from tyranny and free from state religion. That’s why they wanted to establish a country without a King and a Church without a Pope, and every body would worship God with his or her own consciousness. The pilgrim Fathers sought to establish a democratic country in the western hemisphere; free from political and religious persecution. This nation came into existence after the Papacy received it’s ”DEADLY WOUND ”in 1798. The civil and Religious Liberty are the fundamental cornerstone of principals which established the United States ,the Republicanism and Protestanism. These Principals have made the United States to become the most powerful nation in the world. That’s why John the revelator saw this nation , sprung up down from the earth and growing like a lamb;but later spoke like a dragon. In the book of’ ”Great Controversy” we are told that it’s the United States which will form the image of the beast; When Papacy reigned in supreme in Europe for 1,260 years (538-1798) the church controlled the state affairs, but in America the constitution separates the powers of church and state. Inorder for U.S to form the image of beast the church must seek the state support inorder to accomplish her own ends. We know that Pope Leo XIV, stated he chose the name Leo which means ”Lion” in Latin language. He cited the real reason as to why he picked the name ” Leo is because he wrote an encylical letter called RERUM NEVORUM which advocated for Sunday worship by law,that his predecessor Pope Leo XIII , who ruled the world from (1878-1903) in the era of industrial revolution. What the Pontiff wants is the world to worship him and observe Sunday and partake the Eucharist.?”Perhaps no one knows whether in the near future the American Pope might influence President Trump to change the constitution and pass sunday laws which give honour to Rome. Let’s have the perfect character of Jesus Christ when these events unfold? ”Amen”.

The people of the United States have been a favored people; but when they restrict religious liberty, surrender Protestantism, and give countenance to popery, the measure of their guilt will be full, and “national apostasy” will be registered in the books of heaven. The result of this apostasy will be national ruin. —RH May 2, 1893.
It is at the time of the national apostasy when, acting on the policy of Satan, the rulers of the land will rank themselves on the side of the man of sin. It is then the measure of guilt is full. The national apostasy is the signal for national ruin.—2SM 373 (1891).
When our nation, in its legislative councils, shall enact laws to bind the consciences of men in regard to their religious privileges, enforcing Sunday observance, and bringing oppressive power to bear against those who keep the seventh-day Sabbath, the law of God will, to all intents and purposes, be made void in our land, and national apostasy will be followed by national ruin.—7BC 977 (1888).
When the state shall use its power to enforce the decrees and sustain the institutions of the church—then will Protestant America have formed an image to the papacy, and there will be a national apostasy which will end only in national ruin.—7BC 976 (1910).
