The Albemarle Observer is a secular online news outlet serving Northeastern North Carolina, covering a range of local and national topics. However, on April 4, 2026, it appeared to move away from objective reporting and instead promoted the view that Sunday rest is for Christians while Saturday was only for the Jews. This type of so-called journalism is nothing more than propaganda designed to influence people, not inform them.
The Albemarle Observer published the following:
• “The most important day in Christianity is Easter Sunday.” [1]
• “The Jewish people today and during the time of Christ recognize Saturday as their Sabbath. Today, some Christians observe Sunday as the Sabbath.” [1]
• “By definition, the Sabbath is a day of religious observance and abstinence from all work, practiced by Jewish people from Friday evening to Saturday evening and by most Christians on Sunday.” [1]
• “The day between Jesus’s crucifixion and resurrection is a day of silence and stillness. It is known to have been called ‘Holy Saturday.’ However, many have no name for the second day, skipping to Easter Sunday.” [1]
• “For some Christians, the change to Sunday Sabbath occurred after Jesus’s Resurrection.” [1]
When it comes to the Sabbath, far too many people follow tradition rather than what the Bible actually teaches. Instead of examining Scripture for themselves, they accept long-standing customs—especially the widespread observance of Sunday—without questioning whether it aligns with God’s command. This exalts human tradition above the word of God and is meant to target the uninformed, those who do not read, study, or search the Scriptures for themselves to find the truth.
The Bible makes it unmistakably clear that the true day of rest, worship, and family time is not Sunday, but the seventh-day Sabbath—Saturday (Exodus 20:8–11; Isaiah 58:13–14; Mark 2:27–28). Sunday rest is not based on any biblical mandate—it’s a tradition rooted in Rome and enforced through centuries of compromise and persecution.
The push for Sunday sacredness is part of a calculated agenda designed to prepare the world for a counterfeit revival and false worship. Under the guise of unity, rest, and spiritual renewal, Sunday sacredness is being exalted in a way that directly opposes the Creator’s authority by replacing the seventh-day Sabbath with a man-made institution rooted in papal tradition. Those who love truth must resist the tide of popular opinion and emotional persuasion and instead cling to the plain, unchanging Word of God. To compromise now is to surrender our allegiance in the final crisis between the commandments of God and the traditions of men.

Where is there a “thus sayest the Lord” in the Scriptures that the 7th Day Sabbath was changed after Christ’s resurrection?
The 7th Day Sabbath is right in the middle of God’s Holy and Moral Law. His Law is a transcript of His Character and He cannot change, so not “one jot or tittle will no wise pass from Law…”
“For I am the LORD, I change not;… ” Malachi 3:6 KJV
“Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever. ”
Hebrews 13:8 KJV
If the Sabbath was changed here on earth, then why would the saved be keeping it in heaven?
Alll the saved in heaven will worship on the 7th Day Sabbath. God also gives stark warnings to those who transgress against Him amd His Commandments and Holy Law:
“22 For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me, saith the LORD, so shall your seed and your name remain.
23 And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the LORD.
24 And they shall go forth, and look upon the carcases of the men that have transgressed against me: for their worm shall not die, neither shall their fire be quenched; and they shall be an abhorring unto all flesh. ”

God said the Sabbath a perpetual covenant and a sign between Him and His people forever:
“16 Wherefore the children of Israel shall keep the sabbath, to observe the sabbath throughout their generations, for a perpetual covenant.
17 It is a sign between me and the children of Israel for ever: for in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day he rested, and was refreshed. ”

The 7th Say Sabbath is not for Israel alone, for God instituted the 7th Day Sabbath at creation:
“1 Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them.
2 And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.
3 And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made. ”

Israel came from the covenant promise God made with Abraham. God gave them their name for “Israel”is the name of God’s people or church.
Christians today are to be spiritual Israel grafted in by belief. For those who did not believe their branches are broken off. Romans 11.
Israel are of the promise and not of the flesh/descendants. Romans 9
Christ said that the Sabbath was made from man:
“27 And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath:
28 Therefore the Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath. ”

Christ rested in His tomb on the 7th Day Sabbath, so why would He change it after He was Resurrected?
There is no such change in the Scriptures, it is man made tradition.
What is tradition?
It is an inherited, established, or customary pattern of thought, action, or behavior.
This is what Christ said about tradition:
“3 But he answered and said unto them, Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition? 6… Thus have ye made the commandment of God of none effect by your tradition.
7 Ye hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying,
8 This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.
9 But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. ”

“Tradition is the bane of religion”
Its either we Obey God and keep His Commandments or we obey and keep the traditions and commandments of men.
If Christ gave us the 7th Day Sabbath, would He nit told us if He changed it clearly as the Sabbath eas instituted at creation week?
“4 For he spake in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, And God did rest the seventh day from all his works.
5 And in this place again, If they shall enter into my rest.
6 Seeing therefore it remaineth that some must enter therein, and they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief:
7 Again, he limiteth a certain day, saying in David, To day, after so long a time; as it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts.
8 For if Jesus had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day.
9 There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.

Two incorrect statements:
“For some Christians, the change to Sunday Sabbath occurred after Jesus’s Resurrection”
It should say “For some Christians, the change to Sunday Sabbath is believed to have occurred after Jesus’s Resurrection”
As written it makes no sense no matter your religious background.
The bigger mistake was their statement that:
“By definition, the Sabbath is a day of religious observance and abstinence from all work, practiced by Jewish people from Friday evening to Saturday evening and by most Christians on Sunday”
Should say “by a small number of Christians”. I don’t personally know any Christian that abstains from all work on Sunday. There must be a few but they are certainly the minority. The article doesn’t even agree with itself because earlier it said “some Christians observe Sunday as Sabbath”. Somehow that morphed into “most”.
Sunday Sabbath observance by Christians, at least in the US, died out nearly 100 years ago though blue laws mostly lasted until the 80s and are largely gone as well. Now it is simply the day they goto church.
