On September 1, 2026, political commentator Alex Jones interviewed Christian nationalist pastor Joel Webbon, and they argued that Christians from different denominations must unite around common political and cultural causes despite their theological differences in order to preserve what they see as America’s Christian heritage. They emphasize that Catholics and Protestants should set aside their longstanding theological disagreements and work together as part of a national political and religious movement to confront what they describe as growing threats to Christianity and traditional Christian values in American society.
Rather than allowing denominational divisions to prevent political cooperation, they are advocating for a coalition in which Catholics, Protestants, and other Christians can work together on issues they consider essential to the future of the country. They are advocating for the Christian nationalist vision of American politics, in which religious identity and political activism go hand in hand. They are presenting Christian unity as a means of building a strong political movement capable of influencing American culture and public policies.
Ellen G. White’s warning in The Great Controversy is particularly relevant because she describes the formation of a religious-political alliance that would eventually seek to use the power of the state to enforce religious observances. Roman Catholics and Protestants will overlook their historic divisions and cooperate around a common religious objective, particularly the promotion of Sunday observance in the United States.
“Through the two great errors, the immortality of the soul and Sunday sacredness, Satan will bring the people under his deceptions. While the former lays the foundation of spiritualism, the latter creates a bond of sympathy with Rome. The Protestants of the United States will be foremost in stretching their hands across the gulf to grasp the hand of spiritualism; they will reach over the abyss to clasp hands with the Roman power; and under the influence of this threefold union, this country will follow in the steps of Rome in trampling on the rights of conscience” (Great Controversy, p. 588).
These predictions are coming to pass as Protestantism becomes increasingly more politically active. American Protestants will seek governmental power and influence to advance Christian morality. In this effort, Catholics and Protestants will find common ground. Rather than remaining divided over their major theological differences, they will cooperate in pursuing ecumenical and political objectives, with Sunday observance becoming a central point of unity.
“The word of God teaches that these scenes are to be repeated as Roman Catholics and Protestants shall unite for the exaltation of the Sunday” (Great Controversy, p. 578).

They are on the wrong path. Exactly how America will fall. “Protestantism shall give the hand of fellowship to the Roman power. Then there will be a law against the Sabbath of God’s creation, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐢𝐭 𝐢𝐬 that God will do His ‘strange work’ in the earth.” LDE 130.
This political alliance is a natural result of the assaults upon the freedom of professed Christians, by those of the Secular Humanist and Atheist faiths. Who seek to force their vision of morality and societal norms upon all. This is predictable behavior from those without the fear, knowledge, or wisdom of the God of Holy scripture. Seeking such an alliance to protect one’s freedoms as the founders of this nation intended is one thing, seeking it in order to force your own moral and societal norms upon all is another altogether. Which would also equal undermining the liberties and freedoms our founders envisioned, and properly identified as inalienable rights given to every person from God Himself. Which no government has a right to infringe upon, but unto warring against God Himself. Who has most obviously granted such freedom to us all.
The base problem with this alliance, is that it requires silencing the propagation of the truth, for the sake of unity. “To forsake the truth for the sake of unity, can only lead to apostasy”. Various denominations among whom many have already forsaken the truth, taking the next step in creating a political unity based upon silencing truth, can and will only to a further slide into apostasy. In the end, creating the exact kind of abusive and persecuting form of government, they now claim they are uniting to fight. Especially when Joining hands with the church of Rome, which never has and never will believe in and or allow for separation of church and state. Politically joining hands with the church of Rome, will only end in complete submission to her. As Holy scripture has plainly predicted.

“These records of the past clearly reveal the enmity of Rome toward the true Sabbath and its defenders, and the means which she employs to honor the institution of her creating. The prophecy of Revelation 13 declares that the power represented by the beast with lamblike horns shall cause “the earth and them which dwell therein” to worship the papacy—there symbolized by the beast “like unto a leopard.” The beast with two horns is also to say “to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast;” and, furthermore, it is to command all, “both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond,” to receive the mark of the beast. Revelation 13:11-16. It has been shown that the United States is the power represented by the beast with lamblike horns, and that this prophecy will be fulfilled when the United States shall enforce Sunday observance, which Rome claims as the special acknowledgment of her supremacy. But in this homage to the papacy the United States will not be alone. The influence of Rome in the countries that once acknowledged her dominion is still far from being destroyed. And prophecy foretells a restoration of her power. “I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast.” Verse 3. The infliction of the deadly wound points to the downfall of the papacy in 1798. After this, says the prophet, “his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast.” Paul states plainly that the “man of sin” will continue until the second advent. 2 Thessalonians 2:3-8. To the very close of time he will carry forward the work of deception. And the revelator declares, also referring to the papacy: “All that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life.” Revelation 13:8. In both the Old and the New World, the papacy will receive homage in the honor paid to the Sunday institution, that rests solely upon the authority of the Roman Church.” GC 578.2 – GC 578.3
