On September 26, 2026, President Donald Trump posted a campaign video on Truth Social titled “God Made Trump,” portraying himself as a courageous, faithful leader specially chosen by God to restore America. The video presents Trump as someone who will conclude his workweek by “attending church on Sunday.” [1] What is particularly concerning is that the campaign advertisement effectively puts words in God’s mouth, portraying Him as though He were personally speaking and giving His divine endorsement to the message. Additionally, taxpayers are footing the bill for this advertisement and others currently being aired by the Trump campaign. [2]
Near the end of the “God Made Trump” video, the ad portrays God as declaring that He needs someone who will drill for oil, bring back jobs, farm the land, secure the borders, strengthen the military, and “finish a hard week’s work by attending church on Sunday.” In other words, the advertisement does not only promote Sunday church attendance; it portrays God Himself as specifically calling for it.
Basically, Sunday worship is being associated with the MAGA movement, the Republican Party, and the political vision of restoring America back to God. What has traditionally been a matter of personal religious conviction is now being woven into a broader political narrative that connects Sunday church attendance with patriotism, national restoration, and divine approval.
Nowhere in the entire Bible does God command His people to attend church on Sunday or identify Sunday as His appointed day of rest and worship. The campaign advertisement’s portrayal of God as calling for Sunday church attendance puts words in God’s mouth, effectively attributing to Him a religious expectation that Scripture never establishes. This is a serious misrepresentation of what the Bible actually teaches. Furthermore, the advertisement portrays Sunday as the day that concludes the workweek, rather than identifying it as the first day of the biblical week.
Scripture clearly identifies Saturday, the seventh day—not the first day of the week—as the Sabbath God established, blessed, and sanctified. Genesis 2:2–3 declares that God rested on the seventh day and made it holy. The fourth commandment explicitly states, “Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy,” and further declares, “But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God” (Exodus 20:8–11). Nowhere in Scripture does God command Sunday observance, authorize Sunday to replace the seventh-day Sabbath, or associate faithfulness to Him with political loyalty or Sunday church attendance. The biblical command is unmistakable: God sanctified the seventh day, and no passage of Scripture records Him transferring that sacred distinction to Sunday.
When a political campaign video portrays God as declaring that He wants Donald Trump in church on Sunday, it invokes divine authority to shape political identity, influence voters, and present a particular religious vision as part of America’s national restoration. Such messaging will only rally Evangelical Christian and Christian nationalist movements seeking to expand Christianity’s influence over government and public life, including groups advocating stronger legal protections for Sunday as a common day of rest. The deeper concern is that Sunday observance is increasingly becoming intertwined with a national political movement that seeks to unite religious faith, patriotism, and civil authority.
The issue isn’t what day politicians want to go to church. The problem is when political leaders use campaign advertisements to claim divine endorsement for Sunday and do it in the name of God, as if God Himself were invoking such messages. The larger question is this: Will Sunday observance eventually be elevated from a religious practice into a civil requirement, enforced by the power of the state? According to Revelation 13, this scenario is precisely what Bible prophecy warns is coming—a time when religious influence and civil authority will unite to enforce worship through legislation.

Is this part of the surprise that he has in store before the midterm election?
The Christian conservatives will only be emboldened to keep advocating for Sunday with these types of remarks.
Spot on Bro Andy!
They are trying to convince us that God is with them just like the Jewish leaders at the destruction of Jerusalem in 70AD.

All due respect, I’ve listened to the clip twice and personally find these claims to be much ado about nothing, if not a whole lotta projection.
The foundations of this nation were built on Biblical Principles and are rife within our Constitution and Founding Documents, including many of our civil laws to this day. Nowhere within the context of Biblical freedom-of-choice is there the command to divorce our Sovereign Creator, His Word or guiding principles from our governance and society; that defies common sense considering Biblical Truths, history AND our historical founding, no matter how many diversities of people we’ve graciously shared Land and blessings. To claim otherwise is disingenuous in my opinion.
So while I agree our ruling class should never dictate or force Christianity -Jesus never commands such a thing, it’s entirely right and fitting that Civil Servant-Leaders of Biblical Faith exemplify allegiance to Sovereign God, without Whose guidance, blessing and benefice we wouldn’t even exist . Anything less is an offense to our Creator and a rejection of Him as our Head- which is the real grievance if we’re honest and precisely why the public adamant demand to ‘separate Church & State’.
What does the Bible actually say? Because while that may not be of interest to those who claim other ‘religions’ or none at all, but it should be the only concern for every genuine Christian. Usually, if we do our own due diligence and seek Truth for ourselves, we’ll find more than one Scripture to support and flesh out our understanding of Biblical Principles. Here’s just a few that speak to the subjects under discussion:
*[Earnestly] remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy (withdrawn from common employment and dedicated to God). Six days you shall labor and do all your work, But the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God. Exodus 20:8-11; **One man esteems one day as better than another, while another man esteems all days alike [sacred]. Let everyone be fully convinced (satisfied) in his own mind. Romans 14:5
*He changes the times and the seasons; He removes kings and sets up kings. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding.
Daniel 2:21
*Remind the people of these facts, and solemnly charge them in the presence of God to avoid petty controversy over words, which does no good, and [upsets and undermines and] ruins [the faith of] those who listen. 2 Timothy 2:14
gotquestions.org is a great tool to find supporting Scripture for almost any theological question one might have. And while I find the commentary attached is very helpful and usually spot-on, let the Bible interpret the Bible, not fallible human opinion. biblegateway.com also offers great insight with free commentaries, etc.
God bless the Seekers to find.
Seems your article, which I quoted from on X a few times, had an impact. Seems the last 15 seconds about God putting Trump in church on Sunday is blacked out now.
And yet God tells us that the 7th Day Sabbath – Saturday is His Sign this:
“13 Speak thou also unto the children of Israel, saying, Verily my sabbaths ye shall keep: for it is a sign between me and you throughout your generations; that ye may know that I am the LORD that doth sanctify you.
16 Wherefore the children of Israel shall keep the sabbath, to observe the sabbath throughout their generations, for a perpetual covenant.
17 It is a sign between me and the children of Israel for ever: for in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day he rested, and was refreshed. ”
